Traffic on my route to work has gotten worse daily since school opened. You'd think it would have leveled off by now. I'm always wondering why I have to adjust to everyone else. Why can't everyone else adjust to me?
Another cellphone nuisance: There is a scene in Scrubs where JD utters into his new dictaphone, "I like toast". There are people with cellphones who will call someone the moment a thought pops into their head. Some of those thoughts are so close to "I like toast" that their cellphone should be immediately confiscated.
Dan calls it incensed irony. It has me thinking of wise King Solomon this morning. One of the few stories I remember from 2nd grade religion.
R.I.P., Gene Upshaw. Your positions as NFLPA Union Head didn't always sit well with me. Your best position was guard alongside Art Shell as an Oakland Raider. Still, I'm saddened by your death.

A couple of years ago, I was sitting in DFW airport during a lengthy layover. It was about the time the FAA floated the "would it be OK to use cell phones during the flight" balloon. A woman waiting for the same flight sat nearby using her cell phone. For an hour and a half, that woman called one person after another and carried on the most insipid, vapid, banal conversations you could imagine, the whole time using that extra-loud cell phone voice.
A perfect poster child for not allowing cell phones during flights.

911 changed my outlook on cell phone usage in flights. I'd like to limit their usage to emergency only but there will be some who say "I like toast" constitutes an emergency.
