The news has been less dire, almost encouraging, about Gustav the last few hours. Still expecting a rough ride. Hoping to get a decent night's sleep although I doubt that's going to happen. I'm glad he's coming ashore tomorrow during the day. I like being able to see what's going on.
We had one minor blow a couple of hours ago. Just some wind and rain from one of the feeder bands.
Hope I can get in a shower before the power goes out tomorrow.
Still fairly calm here.

All the best. See you on the other side.
He's fighting 20 knots of windshear, scheduled to go up to 30 and drawing dry air into his western half. It's 10:23 p.m.CST and it's still only 115mph, which, at this stage, is an absolutely LOVELY speed. I won't jinx the auspicious augeries, just wish for the best and more ~ or even LESS(!) ~ of the current status quo.
Big hugs!
Thinking of you and yours. Stay safe.

Hey, Rob: For whatever reason, DirecTV is making WDSU available -- their broadcast is a little heavy on the home cooking (I've never seen such a polite anchor), but it's preferable to seeing the national media stars prancing around the French Quarter.
Take care -- will check in again later.
Thanks, everyone. I just got up. It's raining outside but no significant wind yet.
