A Monday Morning after a short weekend

We started Sex and the City last night. About 20 minutes in, we were both starting to look at the clock. This is not a good sign because this movie goes 2 hours and 25 minutes. We stopped it at about 40 minutes. If it doesn't get better soon, we will never get through it.

Meant to say a little more about this image when I posted it yesterday. I suspect this is hay. I have no idea what type of grass it might be, though. There are cattle and horses in the area and hayseeds travel easily. Loved the way it looked in this lot that hasn't been mowed in some time. Like Mom said, it looks like the tops were cut with a razor blade.

About the QOTD: If that's true, what a sad world he lives in.

Quote of the Day
I know plenty of people who work in this world, and I've met very few who didn't hate with every cell in their bodies anyone in their own companies who made more money than they did or got bigger bonuses at Christmastime. Gossiping about each others' bonuses, and bitching about each others' compensation, is the national pastime for these people.
Matt Taibbi, The Smirking Chimp

Blog of the day here.

Quote from said blog: "In celebration of the Sex and the City Movie premiering on HBO this weekend, 'Sex and the City' writer/director Michael Patrick King heads up a roundtable on Love and Romance, Jet Setting, New York and Fashion, with other writers from the hit series."

I don't know why, but your listing in my Google Reader hadn't refreshed with the new posts in forever. I've deleted the listing & readded it. Hopefully that will fix the problem!
In response to your comment on my blog, YES! That was SOME thunder & lightning! There were periods here, some nights, when the lightning was so constant it almost looked like daytime outside! The water at the bridge by Frabielli's was still really high yesterday, but at least we've dried out here (for the most part.)
I can't add much to the "Sex & the City" discussion, as it was never my thing.

About the QOTD: I understand envy I think. What I don't understand are people who choose to embrace it, actually wallow in it, instead of rejecting it. They tend to be nasty and miserable creatures intent on making everyone else miserable too.

Every company I've worked for had a policy that salary and bonuses were confidential and discussing them was grounds for dismissal. Over the years I've worked hard to make sure my direct reports were compensated fairly and treated well, mostly successfully. Occasionally though, one would come to me outraged that so and so was making more money than they were. My response has always been to talk through their own compensation and how it was determined. A little "mind your own business". And finally, if necessary, "You can always go work somewhere else". That's what I hold myself to.

My experience has been the opposite of Taibbi's. Maybe that is because I don't care what other people make, I care that I am fairly compensated and that's it, and maybe people know I don't like to gossip about pay or anything else for that matter so they don't bring it up to me. Or maybe Taibbi suffers from a common condition of the envious: projection.

I loved SitC the movie but as I've seen every episode of the tv series I guess it's safe to say I'm a true fan ;)

That photo would make a great print for a big wall. The colours are wonderful.

What a great idea. That would make a wonderful print for a wall. I have studied it intensely; it just intrigues me. The geometry of it all is so precise -- why not go for it?
