Happy Birthday, Patsy
Love,

Ed Wallace's piece in MSNBC via Business Week about General Motors is a perspective I don't see much of right now. It's a nice change of pace from the relentless GM-bashing. It's hard to argue with the thrust of his thesis:
Frankly, from a financial viewpoint, neither the auto industry nor the airline industry makes any sense at all. Too much money, too high a structure for fixed expenses, too much room for error in future planning, forced to constantly lower your prices to that of your weakest competitor, and a public that can desert you overnight when the economy contracts.GM will survive in some form. The other side of whatever they end up doing will probably be a leaner, meaner, and more profitable GM. I'm not at all sure anyone there knows how to run such a company, though.
Love the Saints first round selection. They can go take a nap now. They don't have any more picks today, have no need to call anyone because they don't have anything to offer, and no one will be calling them. Jenkins has been bandied about as the most likely and logical choice for the Saints for some time now. I'm glad they didn't feel the need to thumb their nose at it just because it was too predictable/safe/conventional/defensive/whatever.
Decided to go sit on the back deck for a few minutes with the camera. It is one of my favorite things. Enjoy.

Quote of the Day
We'll take the car down the highways
We won't get fooled by the bad days
And all the money we took from the last one
Clean your bloody nose in the bathroom.

Happy Birthday Patsy!
I had a close encounter with wildlife today as well. The boys and I went to a music store and happened across a Canadian Goose with babies. I'm not sure when they hatched -- mom was sitting on another egg -- but they were pretty active.
They're a lot cuter when they're little and not pooping all over the sidewalk.
Happy birthday to Patsy! (love the Tweety and Sylvester gif btw)
I don't know about chillin' - to me that raccoon looks like he's about to make some serious trouble :)
Delmer,
I like Canada geese, too, but I'm glad they're not hanging around here. There's an old expression about "sh!t through a goose" and it's true.
Fi,
But they look so innocent. :)
I meant to get back yesterday, but Happy Birthday, Patsy. Love the GIF.
GM still has value if the right team can be put in place and some realities are acknowledged. I'm not certain that will happen though.
I think they've been staring reality in the face for some time now, Dave. They're fortunate that the economy right now has kept them from losing too much ground to their competition. They need to be up and running at full strength when the economy picks up again. I expect that to be later this year, not next year. They need to stop dawdling and get to it, though.
Your raccoon sitting at the edge of the woods look a lot cuter than ours raccoons crawling in and out of the sewer. Um, on another note, I think I read once that if you see a raccoon out and about in the daylight, it might be rabid. Or maybe that was possums. Not sure, now. Anyway...
Happy belated birthday, Patsy.
Ours come out because there is food out and because they're conditioned to the relative safety, Marie. We haven't seen any signs that any of them are rabid. They are enthusiastic water drinkers. If anything, they're too healthy.
Nice photos! Most recently we've had rose-breasted & blue grosbeaks around. I love it around here in April!
Saw your pics, Lana. Lovely. I have a couple of rose-breasteds hanging around. Haven't seen the blue ones yet. They've been here in the past but I haven't seen them in a while.
