We had an excellent sunset dinner at The Columbia Street Tap Room in Covington tonight. It was a fantastic night to be out and about. We took some photos. Patsy and I both love old Covington.

Great pictures of Covington. I can't think where those old buildings are though. Not right off the main road through town, I'm guessing. It's been a few years, though, since I was in the town, so maybe everything is freshly done and is right in the center of town.
The main road you're thinking of in old Covington is Boston Street. Most of these pictures were taken two streets over.
I love the pics, but where are the people? It looks awfully deserted for such a nice evening.
That's one of the things we love about Covington, Dave. The Tap Room had a band scheduled for later but we didn't stay for it. We beat the crowd home but it's not often that big a crowd. They have a block party on the last Friday of every month from March through October, I think, and they also have various events scheduled throughout the year. If you're not in the middle of those, you pretty much have the early evening weekend streets to yourself. How cool is that?
BTW, that statue in the 4th photo is Ronald Reagan.
I like that being able to choose crowds or not in a town. Back when I was working more frenzied jobs, the last thing I wanted at the end of the day or on weekends was to mix in with a crowd. My patience for people was long gone by then. I'm much relaxed either way now.
If I really want to do something, a crowd won't keep me away but I tend to prefer more relaxing fare like an evening stroll through a picturesque little town these days more than the other stuff. My 20 year old self would scoff at me.
I learned recently that many of the art galleries in Covington are closing up. 2 more just last week, from what I understand. A sign of the times, unfortunately.
To be honest, Lana, I don't know what kept them open. One of Patsy's work colleagues shows her work at the one across the street from Art on Columbia (Forgot the name) and, except for their night showings, I never see anyone in there. Unfortunately, art almost always needs rich patrons and money is tight even amongst the rich.
