Asphalt and bikes

Asphalt - August 25, 2009I suppose the repairs have kept the road from disintegrating completely but I think a road called Churchill Downs Drive deserves better. It's no fun to ride on. Every one of those black repair lines is like a mini speed bump. This is in Grand Hills Estates about a mile from CrabAppleLane. It's considered Covington rather than Bush. All of the roads here are named after famous racehorses and racetracks. There are also roads named after Affirmed, Seattle Slew, Whirlaway, Belmont, and Secretariat.


Asphalt - August 25, 2009There's something about the way an asphalt driveway looks that has always appealed to me. I kinda regret that my contractor used concrete instead. Concrete will probably last longer and looks OK when it's straight and edged but it is not as harmonious in a country setting as smooth and winding asphalt.

I stumbled across today's QOTD while I was looking for a different quote this morning. My question is who are they going to get to play Secretariat? As magnificent horses go, Secretariat is in a class all by himself. Apparently, someone thinks a horse can be found, though.
