It's Fantasy Football Auction day. Ya Boys is a keeper league. Owners can name a franchise player and two transition players. Prices for franchise players are based on the average price of the top five at each position from the year before. Transition prices are based on the top ten. Bidding on those players start at his designated price. In the case of a franchise player, an owner can keep him at his franchise price or let him go and apply the excess to his salary cap. In the case of transition players, the owner has the right to match the final bidding price and keep the player. It makes for an interesting auction and an interesting league.
As I'm working on this blog entry and drinking way too much coffee, I am also thinking about my salary cap, how I want to make up my team, and how I want the auction to go. It's a grand exercise in futility but I do it every year. I didn't do well in this league last season despite the one moment of YEAH in the QOTD and I haven't made the playoffs since 2005. That terrible streak ends this year.
GEAUX Death on Two Legs.
I offer an image for this auction day. As I was heading to the kitchen for yet another cup of coffee, I spotted these two gray foxes in the back yard.

CrabAppleLane Gray Foxes - August 21, 2009

Quote from said blog: "pea ham soup"
Photo blog, I think. Love pea soup with homemade garlic butter croutons. -Rob

I am honored and humbled to make the QOTD. Hopefully I will never be so honored or humbled again. :-)
That was the QOTD twice.

It is the only quote with that distinction. It is one of the great unlikely things to have happened in my lifetime. You can take comfort in the knowledge that, because of that stroke of good luck, I can never win the Powerball. :)
It's like being the inaugural member of the Quote of the Day Hall of Fame.
See you tonight.
Oh, and I was thinking I might actually like to bid on Shiancoe but I don't know how to pronounce his name. So if I come out with "I'd like to nominate tight end for the Vikings, Mr. WTF???? for a buck", you'll know who I'm talking about.
Your foxes remind me that I need to get on the bike path. This year I've done all my riding (which amounts to almost nothing) on city streets.
On the bike path I've seen red foxes, skunks, rabbits, etc. I don't see quite the variety in the city. (Well, deer, once in a while.)
Great capture on the foxes! They're typically so shy, I'm surprised you're seeing 2 at once.
A classic moment in FFL history. I hope the auction went well for you.
Missed your chance, Hyde. He went for $2.
I always stick to the streets, Delmer. There aren't really any trails around here I would trust to not have giant spider webs or hornet nests ... not to mention how much harder it is to peddle on them. :)
Thanks, Lana. These two are less shy than most. They've been back a few times during the day. I imagine they're here pretty regularly in their normal nighttime hours.
Well, it went. We'll see how well in a few weeks.
