From USA Today about Toyota's gas pedal and safety problems:

The button must be depressed at least three seconds for the engine to shut off, an eternity if your car is barreling down the highway with the gas pedal jammed wide open.

I think Toyota is getting a pass here from the media and consumers that American car manufacturers don't get.

I think it's interesting that American newspaper websites have a section called "Sports" while overseas newspaper websites have a section called "Sport". I have numerous American newspaper websites bookmarked but I also read The London Times, The Guardian, and The New Zealand Herald. The latter three have a Sport section.

We like NCIS here at CrabAppleLane because of the superb ensemble cast. Not big fans of NCIS: Los Angeles. After two episodes, it seems to me that LL Cool J gets two lines per week. One of them is some variation of "I was a SEAL" that he gets to say 4-5 times.

Quote of the Day
Bill Safire was anything but a nattering nabob of negativity. He had none of the vile and vitriol of today's howling pack of conservative pundits: Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter and Malkin.
Maureen Dowd, New York Times

Blog of the day here.

Quote from said blog: "6 -- JETS (3-0) -- They continue to chat away, especially former Ravens LB Bart Scott, but that's acceptable as long as they keep backing it up. But don't think for a second many folks around the league will mind much if Brees and Co. serve up a helping of blackened Jets Sunday."

There are a number of odd things about that Toyota situation. I haven't driven those cars, have you?

NCIS is a favorite of mine. I'm still cool on the new one, but I'll stick with it for a few more weeks.

Safire will be sorely missed.

I've always thought it was interesting (after I got past thinking it was a typo) that England has "maths" instead of "math." They also say, "my waters broke" ... at least on Coupling.
