Saw some store advertising that they'll be opening at 4AM, Friday. Think it was Kohl's but that's not important. The ad says, "Be first in line". To me, that's encouraging a Black Friday tradition that can just go away as far as I'm concerned. How many human stampede injuries and deaths will it take before we decide this isn't that great an idea? When I was a kid, I don't think retail stores had any kind of budget for security. If they did, it certainly wasn't much of one. They all do now. It's reflected in the prices we pay. If you didn't know already, I hate shopping.

Quote of the Day
For many of us, lying naked on a beach is a spiritual experience that helps cleanse our souls and free our spirits.

Blog of the day here.
Quote from said blog: "Basically, Wes doesn't give fantasy owners a lot of points (he's not a touchdown machine), but he's consistent. The ball is in Wes's hands A LOT for many reasons, but the most important is this: he produces. That's all that matters, isn't it? Production? And as the best slot receiver in the business today, that means moving the chains. His job has little to do with scoring the actual touchdown. However, he's the guy who sets it up."
I agree. Welker is a great player, particularly the way the Pats use him. -Rob

Black Friday is one contact sport I've never gotten into. And those crowds CAN be very dangerous. You would have to pay me a lot to participate in one of those herds.
I think part of the problem here is the perception/reality that the stores will run out of the hot new merchandise. People line up for Harry Potter books but are usually cordial because there will undoubtedly be enough books to go around.
My local McDonald's (which is the best in the franchise, I'm certain) has a sign up stating they'll open at 4 a.m. on Friday. I think that's a good idea, as it's never too early for breakfast. I can, however, do without all the shopping nonsense.
McDonald's will be able to handle their crowd, Delmer. Not so sure about Walmart, Target, and Best Buy, though.
