At the former workplace where Patsy and I first met, there was a collection of the smut magazines of the day (Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler). Hustler magazine was fairly new on the scene then and their pictures were more explicit but the models, the photography, and the settings weren't quite as spectacular and professional as Playboy and Penthouse. What Hustler was known for then was raunchiness, particularly in their cartoons. This was before publisher Larry Flynt was shot and subsequently found religion. One of those cartoons, Chester the Molester, could never be published today. It was in off-the-charts bad taste. I remember two non-Chester cartoons so vividly that I would love to find them again. One is a takeoff on the old Timex "takes a licking and keeps on ticking" commercials involving elephants. The other one has Rudolph talking to the other lead reindeer right after Santa threatened him with a whip. I think I would post that one or link to it if I could find it. The Timex one is a little too raunchy. Funny as hell, but very, very raunchy. All of this is my way of saying that when Larry Flynt says about his nephews, "the junk they publish hurts my reputation", I have to laugh once again at something coming from Larry Flynt.

Steelers-Browns: After an impressive Monday night win over the Broncos to get to 6-2, one sports pundit wondered "how did this team lose two games?". The Steelers have lost five in a row since and I'm wondering how that team won six games. They looked awful last night against Cleveland, who are pretty awful, themselves. I saw Ben Roethlisberger get sacked on three successive plays. He's a great player and those sacks weren't all his fault but that is just inexcusable for a player of his caliber and experience with that much at stake.

You know she used to have to wait around
She used to be the lonely one
But now that she been skatin' around town
She's the only, only one

Blog of the day is here.

Quote from said blog: "As you are no doubt aware, it's kind of impossible to go anywhere or do anything in our modern world without being the target of advertising. Been to a movie lately? How many commercials did you have to sit through? While you were sitting in a seat you had paid to sit in, I might add."

The Steelers were also pretty solid when they beat the Vikes in the game before the Denver one. They've really hit the skids.

What can you do but laugh at Larry Flynt. Besides just stare at him with open-mouthed astonishment I mean.
