The Saints take on the Falcons today at noon local time. Both teams are pretty banged-up on defense but the Falcons are banged-up on offense, too. Quarterback Matt Ryan and running back Michael Turner won't play. The Falcons are only barely in the playoff hunt and have nothing to lose by throwing caution to the wind and playing super aggressive all-or-nothing defense. That's what I expect them to do. The Saints are already in the playoffs and clinch a bye with a win today. The formula is the same for them as it has been all year. If they take care of the ball, they'll take care of the Falcons. And one more thing:

I expect the Boston Globe to be somewhat partial to the team they cover. As someone who reads a lot of NFL City Newspapers looking for fantasy football information, I come across that phenomenon in 100% of those papers. However, some things are just beyond comprehension. ALL NFL "Power Rankings" are meaningless but some of them are downright ludicrous.

Today's QOTD comes from one of the many ridiculous conversations to be found in Pulp Fiction, Number 5 of the iTunes Shuffle today on why Jules doesn't eat pork ... or dog.
I offer one from the CrabAppleLane backyard this morning. Our glorious Bradford pear tree is in fall color change mode. Appropriate, I suppose, now that winter is only days away. They're not quite as spectacular as the northern sugar maples but they're the best we can do in the south, I think.

Quote of the Day
I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy
But they're definitely dirty
But ... a dog's got personality
Personality goes a long way

Great pic.
I got a chuckle at that power ranking. And then there's this:
"The Packers, following a Monday Night Football win over the Ravens, vaulted past the Patriots and Vikings and into the No. 2 sport in this week's Power Index."
The Pack has moved to Major League Baseball? That's some vault.
Beautiful colors for December.
Dave,
I'm sure the Patriots will move up to Number One in that Power Index in both sports this week with their most awesome win over Carolina.
Thanks, Marie. Louisiana doesn't get the gorgeous color changes that you northerners get. Take it where we can get it.
Heh. I'm not going to be the one to bet against it.
