March Madness starts today and for the first time in many years, I am not in any real pools. I filled one out on ESPN but to win one of those amongst the other 3 million entrants is impossible even if you know what you're doing. I do not and will rely on luck. The most exciting part of this very exciting tournament is the opening round today and tomorrow. These are 18-23 year-old kids chock full of hormones and adrenalin. One kid playing out of his mind can make a huge difference in a basketball game. It says here there won't be very many upsets this season and Kansas will be cutting down the nets in April. Bet any house you have to lose.

Blog of the day is here.
Quote from said blog: "This game was possibly more exciting than the actual 2010 Superbowl. Being a Saints fan I actually got goosebumps several times while watching this great video. All the drama and excitement of a feature length film but in only 12 minutes. Well done, well done."

Great video, and only a tad painful for this Vikings fan. :)
I have that episode of the NFL Network's "Sound FX" recorded. There's more material than is shown in that video, Dave. The NFL Network is awesome for an NFL junkie like me. I love the Sound FX show. There's a Colts game from a few years ago where Peyton Manning and his center, Jeff Saturday, have a rather heated argument on the sideline after a series didn't go well. Plenty of bleeps but most people would get the gist. Peyton is talking to Dallas Clark and Brandon Stokely later in the same game and says, "And I'm miked up, too. We probably sound like an episode of Desperate Housewives." Good stuff.
I'm not in any what you could call REAL pools either Rob. But in the two that I am in, 12 of 15 entrants also picked Kansas. I mean, I know they're the favorite but I thought that was pretty strong. Needless to say, Hyde has 2 of the 3 dissenting votes. Also, needless to say, Hyde won't be impressing anybody with his prognostication prowess.
But, I am missing me a REAL pool - like Crabapple Lane's. :-(
The problem for me is that I see Kansas winning it, too. When the favorite wins, a lot of people have the winner and most of them, like any blade of grass, know more than I do about college basketball so they'll have picked more winners than me in the earlier rounds. I'd have no chance. I HAVE to pick a dark horse to win when I put my money up to have any chance at winning.
Looks like we're not in Kansas anymore.
True. Congrats to the Panthers.
