Just another boring summer day

Batten down the hatches, Texas, Hurricane Alex is coming. Possibly a Category 2 by landfall. Not pleasant.

From the Green Bay Press Gazette: Brett Favre retires. A whole section of that publication devoted to it. I shudder at the thought of what the residents of Green Bay will do if Brett leads the Vikings to another sweep of the Packers this season, which is a distinct possibility.

A new kind of gamesmanship. I love it. Must have cost a fortune. Would love to hear an honest reaction from someone in the Colts organization about the impact. I already know what the official reaction is. No impact or no comment.

71 days until football season ...

About today's QOTD: I know a lot of people are offering help for the BP oil leak and coordination is essential so I only have this to say to the bureaucrats in charge of this emergency: Pick up the pace, please.

Quote of the Day
We’re waiting for people in Washington to agree with people in Robert, La., that it’s OK to talk to a guy in Houma (La.) to tell people in Baton Rouge that’s it’s OK to do something down on Dauphin Island — or wherever. Pick your spot
Ralph Portier, Environmental biologist at Louisiana State University

Blog of the day is here.

Quote from said blog: "This poor woman hasn't a thought in her head that doesn't involve one of her sons. I feel certain that it's an easier character to grasp if the viewer is a son, and that's just not me."

I think the GB fans who couldn't handle a sweep were culled out last year. The rest would be fine if it happens again this year...as long as the beer holds out.

Beyond Milwaukee, there's a state wide safety cushion, with considerable backup available from Minnesota and the UP. Heck, even I'd sacrifice if that circumstance arises.

Probably. :)

Not a bit boring here Rob! Tomatoes arrived (unharmed) at 3pm this afternoon. Many many thanks! As soon as I'm done shoving them in my mouth I'm going to blog all about it :) DElicious! Hope the hurricane skips right by you, Susan
