Four Sticks

Was never much of a fan of Four Sticks off of Led Zeppelin IV. It was always a "B" side song to me. When I saw Page & Plant play it the last time I saw them, they changed my mind and I look at it quite differently now. It was the best song they did that night and it was all because of the great drummer they had found. That's him in the video below. He comes in at about 1:35 and listening to it on a computer can hardly do it justice but it's still pretty good. He uses the "four sticks" just like John Bonham did. I can do without the orchestra and I'm still not a big fan of the studio version but when you experience it live with a great drummer putting the thunder in your chest, it's a whole other thing. Relentless.

I think I picked the last two tomatoes of 2010 yesterday afternoon. The rest are rotting. It's that time of year. Too much rain followed by too much heat. When it's like that every day, it's just too much for them. It wasn't the best season I've had but it wasn't bad. I have enough to last the week if we eat them every night. They're starting to get very ripe and juicy.

OK, these are some people who need adult supervision and maybe some jail time.

58 days until football season ...

Quote of the Day
Oh, Baby, it's cryin' time
Oh, Baby, I got to fly
I've got to try to find a way
I've got to try to get away
'Cause you know I gotta get away from you, Babe
Led Zeppelin, Four Sticks

With friends like those...

So wait a minute on that story. The friends lit him up, then started to take him to the hospital, but then the police found him "with his prosthetic leg in flames"? So what did the friends do, light him up again or put him in the car with his prosthetic leg still in flames?

Not that it's going to keep me up at night.

Oh yeah, I agree. I'm just wondering about that "dropped him off on the side of the highway" and how that squares with the cops finding him with his leg in flames. They would have lit him up once, then decided to take him to the hospital(presumably with his leg not "in flames" at that point), then they got scared and left him. Then the cops found him, with his leg burning again? What, did his leg flare up or something?

I know, I really shouldn't think about stuff like this, but the inconsistencies sometimes gnaw at me. It used to be considered attention to detail, but now I sometimes wonder if it is a character flaw.

Adult supervision and jail time? Or a few million more brain cells!

Enjoy the last of your tomatoes. They're a funny crop to grow arent't they. This year we had fruit for at least five months, years previous all over and done with after three...
