Friday Fluff - August 6, 2010 Issue

About the selected quote from today's BOTD: That's a widely-held view of why newspapers are dying. I don't think it's true. Accuracy and credibility are far down the list of reasons they're dying. The main reasons are that consumers have cheaper, more convenient, and timelier ways to have news delivered to them. Nice take on the whole Brett Favre thing that happened the other day, though. Dead on.

I agree with London Fletcher. If the commissioner is going to open the floor for questions from the players, he should have been prepared to answer them. Good thing he went into the NFL because that law degree doesn't seem to be doing him any good. That thing is getting more acrimonious by the day. The 2011 NFL season is in serious jeopardy.

Quote of the Day

Blog of the day is here.

Quote from said blog: "Newspapers are dying partly because the age of responsible journalism is already dead."

I'm with the BOTD on both points, but we've been down that road before. It's funny how many people excoriated the local reporters on that Favre non-text(myself included) in the comments. I think most people saw through it right away, and ESPN in particular ended up looking like a giant clown car.
