About jury duty: U.S. District Court - Eastern District of Louisiana draws jurors from all over southeastern Louisiana. That courtroom is in the heart of downtown New Orleans. There is construction all around it. Parking is scarce and expensive. Many of the jurors have never dealt with New Orleans rush hour traffic or downtown parking and many more are intimidated by the big city. Jury duty, alone, is not stressful enough, I suppose. They'll be reimbursed for parking and mileage ... probably some weeks from the completion of their service. They should simply provide the transportation. I'm not saying it needs to be door-to-door but maybe from a staging area somewhere in their community to the courthouse steps. They'd probably save money in the process.
Today's QOTD is once again from former Chicago Bear Dan Hampton.
I find it a little disconcerting that both the Vikings and the Saints are dealing with so many injuries going into the very first game of the year. Makes me wonder what the NFL is thinking by proposing adding two additional games. I'll tell you what I'm thinking. It's a dumb idea.

Quote of the Day
I realize now it was a terrible choice of words, and I offer absolutely no excuses. I screwed up, about as badly as I could, and I am deeply and profoundly sorry.

You called it on the Hampton thing. Now that he has apologized count me out on Flortio's lynch mob.
I agree about lengthening the season. If anything is changed I would like to see them drop one preseason game. I know, fat chance of them going in the other direction.
Same here on Hampton, Dave. I am not in the least bit interested in trying to determine what was in the man's heart. He said something stupid and he apologized for it. Tilt, game over.
I'd like to see them drop a preseason game or even two and play the other ones in NFL-starved cities in the US or abroad rather than charging the season ticket holders. 16 regular season games is plenty enough. They'll be shortening careers.
