Started this yesterday but ran out of steam.
LSU fans had better start getting used to Les Miles' name popping up wherever there's a coaching vacancy and if Les doesn't feel the need to quash every one of those rumors when he's hot, LSU fans should get used to that, too. Very few stand next to him when times are tough. They should also ask themselves just how tough it's really been. His record is 75-17 in 7 years. That average is almost 11 wins per year. Not bad by today's standards. Or yesterday's or tomorrow's. There is still an asshole element at LSU that doesn't like him, though. They are not the same crowd, that used to include me, that wasn't always sold on him. That crowd is getting smaller by the minute. No, the asshole crowd is different. They adored Nick Saban because he was so well spoken, so intense. They don't like Miles because he's less well spoken, less conventional, and cares more about his family than his job. They're pretty quiet now because he's only assembled the best football team in LSU Tiger history. If they win another BCS Championship, I think you can put his team up there with the 1971 Nebraska team. Some still won't like Miles and will probably succeed in chasing him away one day because, really, why would he want to put up with them forever? Yeah, I have nothing but contempt for that bunch.
About today's QOTD: I must still read the rest of that article. I'm not a big fan of that kind of threatening activism. Big, national advertisers are easy targets. Some group, howling at the moon, stirs up controversy and no matter how trivial the controversy is, national advertisers pull out because they just don't want the headache.

Quote of the Day
In other words, the truth is false if it does not look the way one thought it would.

Blog of the day is here.
Quote from said blog: "The Vikings and Saints play in different divisions within the NFC, but including this weekend’s matchup they’ve met annually over the past four seasons and their battles have been dramatic. The Vikings out-dueled New Orleans on Monday Night Football in 2008, the Saints got past the Vikings in overtime of the 2009 NFC title game and then the two teams met in prime time to open the 2010 regular season."
All three games were memorable. -Rob

Yeah, being unhappy with a guy like Miles who also averages almost 11 wins per year is a valid definition of an asshole. I bet half the alumni at the U of M would sell their soul to see him coach the Gophers.
When his name popped up at Michigan a few years ago, Tiger fans thought he was gone. How could they compete with his alma mater and a big time program in their own rite? LSU stepped up but I really don't think Michigan pulled out all the stops. For some reason, people have doubts about him. Mine are gone, though. He has my support. 100% of it. And I like those quirks he has that drive everyone crazy.
