CrabAppleLane Friday - March 2, 2012

Serious rut here at CrabAppleLane. Started my CrabAppleLane Sunday post on Sunday and just lost the wind. Started it up again on Tuesday and Thursday. Couldn't finish. There is a lot going on here, though. More on that in the coming weeks.

Saints fans are starting to get very worried about the Drew Brees contract negotiations. I think hope it will get done this weekend.

Spring is almost here. Tractor is ready to roll (Thanks, Mark and Joey). Hope to plant tomatoes in two weeks. I'll probably be giving fewer away this season because I want to make more tomato sauce. I don't know if I can improve on last season's second attempt but I think I can duplicate it and that will be just fine, thankyouverymuch.

I took today's QOTD as a good-natured jab ... at themselves.

187 days until football season ...

Quote of the Day

I mean, if you’re always striving for success, you end up with something like America, and nobody wants to be like America, really.
London Theater Director

Blog of the day is here.

Quote from said blog: "Un-engaged playing is merely symptom; the disease is far deeper than what happens on the court. We (and I mean us folk in Minnesota) are paying Tubby Smith something in the neighborhood of $2 million (reputed to be the highest salary for any state worker in Minnesota) to coach this team, yet the lack of team was stunningly apparent on the court. There was no cohesion, no sense of working together. Excuse Pollyanna here, but I thought a really big part of coaching was in the creation of a single minded team unit."

Been in that rut too.

It's always a good sign when you start talking about tomatoes. Spring can't be too far behind. I think I may do tomatoes in pots this year and save the space inside the wire for the rabbit foods. I also think I'm going to play around with canning some stuff this year and see how that works.

On the BOTD, Tubby Smith was indeed the highest paid state employee as of 2010. Her critique of his team is spot on and like a growing number of people around here, I'm starting to think Tubby is just phoning it in.
