Happy Memorial Day Weekend
Got plans?
House came to an end Monday. The series finale was pretty lazy if you ask me. I guess the final message was that House is who he is and, no matter how much punishment he receives for doing what he does, nothing is ever going to change. Dramatic change appeared to be on the horizon in these last few episodes, though. If you don't know about House, I'm not sure I can adequately describe him. He is a brilliant doctor and a total ass. That, you pick up 5 minutes into just about any episode. He is also very self-destructive. In the series finale, House is about to lose Wilson, his best and only friend. We're left to wonder what that would have been like but I think we can all safely assume it would have been more of the same.
This Means War was last night's movie. As an action flick, it wasn't bad CME. As a romantic comedy, it was only so so. Reese Witherspoon was her usual excellent self and Chelsea Handler, as her best friend, was a lot of fun but the two guys were a little stiff. I also found Tom Hardy difficult to understand at times. When I have to turn on subtitles, the movie is fighting uphill. It was better than a poke in the eye so there's that.
Noble, but kind of sad, too. That uniform shouldn't belong to a private collector. The Baseball Hall-Of-Fame or the Yankees should buy it. If Yogi Berra's uniform for that game commanded $565k, Larsen's has to be worth well over a million.
With apologies to Casablanca, Alex Smith will always have 2011. He's got a point but I think he maybe should have kept it to himself because, with apologies to Cinderella, when he turns back into a pumpkin this season ...
I do someday want a FM transmitter for my iPhone. My truck's CD player ruins CDs and I don't want to spend the dollars to get it fixed. Unfortunately, every one I've researched receives mostly bad reviews ... like these.
Turns out my camera really is failing. I don't think it's some setting I accidentally changed and it's not the memory card. I took the two pics below on the exact same settings one after the other. The bottom one is cropped because I didn't really want the rest of the field in the image. I just wanted a relatively clean image. These fig trees are going on two full years old and still no figs. They seem healthy otherwise. Money is a bit too tight to upgrade but this is the one I like now.

Quote of the Day
The hardest thing for me is leaving her, knowing that I won't get to marry her. To have kids together. To grow old together. That is what makes me sad.

Blog of the day is here.
Quote from said blog: "What brings the tears to my eyes is not just the bereaved young woman, but the Marine who stands behind her."

Your camera isn't broken, you're just accessing the advanced "Predator view" mode. ;)
I'd like to get a new camera too. I'm torn between spending a couple hundred bucks now, any model that I bought in that range would be a big upgrade, and saving up a little more for something better like the one at your link. I need to do a lot more research in either case.
I think the Canons are the best consumer value cameras on the market, Dave. Nikon and Sony have good models, too, but they're less affordable and I don't think they're as consumer-tested. Nikons seem to be the choice of the pros. I try not to read reviews by them, though. I try to read the ones by the average Joe.
I, too, would like an FM transmitter for my Android.
Speaking of Android, I've only used my phone's camera for over a year now. I'd have to really think to remember where I put my little Canon. Sorry about your camera, Rob.
I've been using my phone's camera, too, Marie. Unfortunately, for me, I don't always have my glasses with me and I don't always get a good view of the screen without them. On my digital camera, I like to use the viewfinder.
I don't want a cheap FM transmitter that's going to fall apart in a few weeks/months and I certainly don't want an expensive one that's going to fall apart in a few weeks/months.
