All eyes on Hurricane Isaac. It appears he's headed for Florida now but, seven years ago almost to the day, that was the case with Hurricane Katrina, too. We all know how that turned out. I hope this one doesn't get as famous. Just hurry up and die already, Isaac. You're not welcome anywhere.

Fantasy football auction tomorrow. In years past, you could almost say I was over-prepared. Not so much because I studied hard. I didn't. It was more of a case just preparing for the drafts/auctions because I was either commissioner or webmaster of the league. I just learned by being in constant close proximity to it. Here to tell you it didn't help. This year, I'll be a little better prepared than I was last year but nothing like I used to be. There are players that will have a rather large impact on our season this year and as of right now, I have probably never heard of them.

Rain or shine, I'm in the yard this afternoon. The jungle aka CrabAppleLane has gotten a little thick. Send help if you don't hear from me for a few days.

New Orleans Saints v Houston Texans on national TV tonight. These two teams played a very entertaining game last season. If it was a real game, I'd be very concerned. The Saints are all kinds of banged up on defense. Their best cornerback and all three starting linebackers are out. The Texans have a great offense. The Saints defense doesn't figure to offer much resistance tonight. The real story will be the Saints offense versus the Texans defense.

Your basic BFD. FWIW, I like the old one better.

11 days until football season ...

Quote of the Day

TODAY's Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb discuss a new survey that found 40 percent of people check their phones while using the bathroom and one in five people check them immediately after sex.

Blog of the day is here.

Quote from said blog: "I suggest that if you drink alcohol, you very much do so in moderation. NOLA is a place where it is easy to let the alcohol be the boss of you. It’s not good to be a drunk anywhere, but can be especially dangerous when you are a fan at an away city."

I've arranged for the ghost of Sir Stanley to be available if needed. Don't ask, somebody owed me a favor. :)

Good luck with Isaac. I've got you guys and THS and company in my thoughts and prayers.

My standard for out of town fan danger was set at the old Chicago Stadium not too long before it was torn down. It must have been a bus load of drunk Detroit Red Wing fans vs. the native Blackhawk fans and the security guys in the yellow windbreakers.

I think there was a hockey game that night too.

I'm concerned about Isaac, Rob, that high-pressure ridge that's building east looks like it could settle and push Isaac west at the last minute. Like Dave, have y'all in my thoughts and prayers.

Wish I was down in the Keys tonight....
