The Joads

Grapes of Wrath

I'm back! This picture was taken just prior to the $14,000 hailstorm on the Salmon River Canyon. We're just 5 miles or so downriver from where Robby showed up Evel. Happy to say State Farm took care of us and fixed the truck. They also totaled the trailer for a nice little $2,000 profit. Ah insurance, can't have to much of it!

New wheels & camper, huh? Tell me about it. Is the trailer still useable or is it REALLY totaled?

Fortunately it was really totaled, saved us from having to sell it ourselves! Kevin bought the thing the day before we left for vacation. I was informed of his intentions only a few days before. It seems he had too much time on his hands when offshore and decided that life as a Joad was desirable. I didn't have the same luxury of time to think about it. I was still in the thought process of 'yeah, but what will we do with it after the trip? Park it in the yard? Yuck!' Alls well that ends well, it turned out to be a wonderful vacation all in all! We had some great times. The kids were excellant travelers! I admit I was worried about being cooped up with the Bickersons, and very pleasantly surprised how well they got along!
