Recipe

Speaking of mirlitons, our local TV personality was doing this with them this morning as I was getting ready for work.

How were the mirlitons, Sue?

The Mirliton soup sounds good, but as for the carmelized coffee flan recipe, I think I'll pass. I'm not a coffee drinker, so anytime anything calls for even a sprinkling of coffee grounds it either gets nothing, or I don't make it.

I got a hankering for caramel custard after reading that recipe. I made some last night while I was on the phone with Sue. Well, talking on the phone and concocting aren't exactly compatible activities. I realized after I put them in the oven that I left out the sugar. So, while still on the phone, I opened the oven door, pulled out the rack, mixed a tablespoon of sugar in each of the cups and stirred. (or as we say in N.O., "stirried them.") I ate one later to test it and it was okay, so I ate another to be sure. Yep, it was definitely okay. I am going to be making more this morning for our luncheon at Elizabeth's.
