It is the song Dad plays for Mom every year on her birthday, Happy Birthday Darlin'. He starts in when she is pulling in the garage and they dance in the living room as soon as she walks in the door.
Sue, I hope you have a very Happy 47th Birthday! I LOVE the Conway Twitty story. What fun memories for your people to pass on to their (much in the future)little angels.
Mom, what is Aunt Elizabeth talking about? I thought you were only 28 this year!! I love Conway Twitty and what he means to us. Whenever I hear any of his songs I can't help but think of ya'll dancing in the living room and me having to do the dishes. Happy Birthday Mom and I'll see you this weekend! Peace.
Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes! Scott began playing the Conway Twitty song "Happy Birthday, Darlin" my first birthday after we were married and living in England. It became a birthday tradition. We first had it on an album, then cassette tape and now a CD. I'm glad to know that it evokes fond memories for my children.
I had a very nice day and am just getting home. My friends suprised me at lunch with a fried chicken salad from Zaxby's, which I love. Sure beat my usual yogurt! Scott, Brianne, Patrick and I went to Frontera's Mexican Restaurant for dinner. They had a mariachi band there. Much to my extreme dread, they came to our table to ask for a request. Scott told them it was my birthday so they sang Happy Birthday, put a colorful sombrero on my head and then asked for another request. I requested the song that sounds like "one ton tomato" which reminded me of Jerry Arnold. Janine, wasn't it Jerry that burst into those lyrics when dining at a Mexican restaurant once? After dinner, we went to Bunk's soccer game, which ended in a tie. Everyone will be home Saturday night and we will continue the birthday celebration then. THEY are cooking me dinner!
Happy Birthday Aunt Sue, and happy belated birthday Brianne! Wow, three birthdays the same month in one family...AWESOME!!!! Anyway, happy birthday! (P.S. I made the Mandeville Junior High Cheerleading Squad!)
happy birthday aunt sue (glad you had a good day!)
mary - congradulations on making the squade!!! i know you've wanted this for a while and i'm glad you stuck with it! i chickened out of trying out for the Spinnikers, but i will next year!
Awwww. I forgot to get on-line and wish you a happy birthday on your special day. And yes, it was Jerry who involuntarily belted out One ton tomato when they were singing what sounds phonetically like, cuz I don't know the words, "Juan tonevera." Jerry's only redeeming factor was that he made me laugh; mostly on purpose and sometimes inadvertently because of moments like that.
Once again, the romantic gestures that emanate from your guys makes me want to slap that man of mine. There I go again. That stimulated a recollection of Michael giving me a diamond band in the midst of a jazz fest crowd on our 10th anniversary. That made me cry. I am tearing up recalling it. He is not given to grand gestures, but hey, he still floats my boat.
Happy Birthday Mama! I hope you have a great day and I will see you tonight. Hopefully I will not be too late for Conway Twitty!
What is Conway Twitty about? Happy Birthday Sue! Have a great day.
Happy happy Sue! And many more!
