I survived a 5.6 earthquake! Yesterday was my last day in San Diego and I was woken up by rumbling and shaking. Nothing fell off the walls but we definitely felt it. It was a little scary because I was afraid that it was just a preview for a bigger earthquake but thankfully, no. My friend Aimee has been in San Diego for two years now and never experienced an earthquake. It definitely made my trip memorable.
We went to L.A. for two days. The first day we went to Universal Studios which was a lot of fun and afterwards we went down to the Santa Monica Pier and ate on the Promenade. The second day we ate lunch at the Ivy Restaurant, a popular hangout for celebrities. We saw George Lucas eating lunch with his family. We also saw Nia Vardalos (sp?) doing some shopping, she's the star from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. And I saw Halle Berry as I was leaving the Ivy. My friends didn't see her so they're not confirming that I actually saw her, but I know it was her! By the way, I paid $26 for a hamburger to have the privelege of seeing those celebrities.
In San Diego, Aimee and I went to La Jolla which is host to a colony of sea lions. That was neat and extremely smelly. Then we went to a huge outdoor mall in the GasLamp District and saw Mr & Mrs Smith (the movie). It was okay. All in all, my trip was a lot of fun.

I wonder if the Ivy charges the celebs. They can't get more than $5 for that hamburger without those stars.
Now that you've experienced both,
Earthquake or Hurricane?
I just lost a big comment I made, corrected, and then went to preview. I hate when that happens. This one came out very different.
I loved California. I want to go again. I have been to San Diego, L.A., and Napa Valley - all in 4 seperate trips. Next time, I want to visit the Big Sur area. I hear that's very nice. People take a big chance living along fault lines. Earth is a live and growing planet. Seismologists are predicting a big shift along Turkey's fault lines.
I hosted Katie and Amy, and Noreen last night for dinner. It is nice to have appreciative people for supper. I fried catfish, made potato salad, homemade bread, and fresh greenbeans. We had blackberry pie for dessert. Julia, Aaron and I picked berries shortly before they got here and that was the first time I have ever eaten it. Blackberries are abundant in my woods. That was Dad's favorite pie and I baked one for father's day two years ago, vowing to one day make one for my family too since he and Mom were so complimentary about it. I don't like crunchy seeds, but it was still good with the vanilla ice cream that Noreen brought. I will be taking Noreen to the airport this morning, since I am going that way. I don't think Kevin got to see his sister this whole trip. It was nice to visit with her, and Katie too. Katie has been working a lot lately and keeping a low profile. Amy, who will be 15 this Saturday, is always adorable.
Did you see all the celebs in CA like you saw Jude Law in New Orleans, or did you really see them this time? :)
I would not be talking smack this close to your wedding date, Stephen. I have some pretty funny stories about you that I'm sure your friends would love to hear. Do you remember the one about the ice cream cone? There are more, many more where that came from and maybe even some pictures to go along with those stories!!!
