Continuing with the movie likes and dislikes theme, did anyone see and like Almost Famous? This is also one of my faves from the last 5 years or so and is also a music-oriented film. It depicts my 70s era of music and concerts. I was never a groupie or a band-aid, though. Cameron Crowe, the director, is about my age and this is almost his biography. The DVD pictured is the Director’s Bootleg and is the one I own. It has some scenes that were cut out of the final version. They were pretty good scenes but they made the movie a lot longer than it needed to be so they were best left on the cutting room floor. It also has the film with a commentary track on it. I find commentary to be a nuisance. It’s like being in a movie theater with a person, who has seen the movie 10 times, incessantly talking behind you. I like this one for its little moments like when William turns the Do Not Disturb sign around on Russell’s hotel room door and that very famous Tiny Dancer bus scene.

Joey and I both love this movie. We love the Tiny Dancer scene.
Love, love, love this movie. I rented it this summer because I hadn't seen it in a while. I'll third that notion that the Tiny Dancer scene is great. I believe that's Sue's favorite Elton John song. I liked it long before that movie made it famous but now it seems to get more airplay.
I recall liking the movie. I don't remember the "Tiny Dancer" scene. Nor, anything else really.
You really can't remember the bus scene where, one-by-one, they all sing along with Elton John, Janine? It's pure movie magic.
I also liked the near plane crash where everyone does a true confession.
Yeah, I like that plane crash scene too. That was funny!!
I actually remember watching this movie the night I graduated from high school. A number of us rented a few movies (including "Almost Famous") and spent the night at my house. I remember the "Tiny Dancer" scene, however I did not know it was my mom's favorite Elton John song. The only thing I associate my mom with as far as Elton John is concerned,is the song "Daniel". I will always remember that song as the song she was listening to when the next door neighbor's car fell on him.
Anyway, I have always wanted to watch that movie again, because I think I fell asleep when I watched it the first time. I may have to put it on our Netflix queue.
