My sister and the boys and I went to a Pumpkin Patch at a local church today. I had to take a picture of Samuel in his costume next to some pumpkins- for posterity's sake! He didn't mind having it on today for those few minutes- we'll see how he does tomorrow night. In case you couldn't tell, he's Pooh dressed like a bee.

Our store is 99% finished! Just some finishing touches left. The guys have been booking weddings and measuring people already. They open officially on Nov. 1.

Fun pictures. The local K-Mart in Mandeville is geared up for Halloween so I guess they're expecting business as usual. That's gotta be a good sign, don't you think?

Oh for cute! I have not mastered emailing pictures yet. When I can get it straight I'll post a few.

Danny is trick or treating tonight for the last time. I cut them off in 6th grade. He went to a costume (or not) dance at the community center Friday night for 5th, 6th & 7th graders. There were about 200 kids there, mostly girls. Danny won one of the 8 costume prizes, a $10 Target giftcard. He went as a TV. I've got the picture that I printed at work but I have sizing issues with the home computer. I'll see what I can do tonight.

Great picture!
I'm glad to see photos of the little ones, as I don't do well at keeping up with everybody like I should. Hope they had fun last night....

Laura--

Elizabeth and I laughed when we read how you pull the plug on Trick-or-Treating after 6th grade. Our 10th grader, who turns 16 at the end of the month, carefully shaved before he and his buddies put on their togas and went out to score the free candy. They had no shame. Perhaps they made a point to visit some of the girls in the neighborhood, but they all had stuffed bags of candy when they returned to the house.

Mary Catherine (8th grade) and her friends also don costumes and go house to house to seek treats. You may want to have Rob delete this comment before your boy throws it back at you--and asserts he will include this mistreatment in his autobiography!

I think they have finally recovered from their sugar comas--bummer when Halloween falls on a school night.

Finally checking the blog after a two month hiatus due to the dumb computer dying and taking forever and a day to be fixed. We have 307 emails which I have to go through one of these days.

My boys both went trick-or-treating, too. Patrick procrastinated and procrastinated about coming up with a costume so at 5:00 on Halloween, he became "Newspaper Boy." He got the costume idea from Adam Sandler on SNL. He folded the paper in front of his face, cut eyeholes and tucked it down the front of his shirt.

Bunk and his friend, Wade, went as Michael Jackson. Wade was the younger Thriller era Michael. He had on a black curly wig, black pants above the ankle, white socks, black shoes, ribbed undershirt, and a white shirt. He couldn't find a glove. Bunk was the current one - paler than Wade since Wade is African American. Bunk had on pajama pants, white shirt, suit jacket and he carried an unbrella. In his other hand he carried a cup that said "Jesus Juice" on it.

They had a great time and of course, came home with lots of candy. I expressed concern that he was still trick-or-treating at age 17 and asked did he think he'd be doing it again next year at age 18. He replied, "Most definitely." I guess it doesn't hurt that he looks and acts around 12, though . . .

I would give anything for 307 e-mails. I love getting messages, but I hardly get any at all. Once you're through reading all those, Sue, why not send me a note?

And speaking of trick or treating, someone on television talked about doing that twenty years ago and then having to get his bag checked by his parents for any sort of dangerous materials. In their careful checking, he said, all of his good chocolate candy disappeared. I laughed hysterically even though I had never heard of such a thing. It just sounded funny when he talked about it -- but the audience must have related, because there was a roar of laughter and applause.
