Soundtracks & Other Stuff

The Last of the Mohicans soundtrack is playing here as I type. My spellchecker doesn’t like Mohicans. Or spellchecker, either, for that matter. I digress. The movie is stirring and the music is equally stirring. I love great film soundtracks and have quite a collection of them. A good soundtrack will not make a bad film good. Empire Records has a great soundtrack but is only a guilty pleasure sort of film for me. Sometimes, its pure magic. Tiny Dancer in Almost Famous, You Never Can Tell in Pulp Fiction, Für Elise in Immortal Beloved, Ain't Too Proud To Beg in The Big Chill, and Burning Bridges in Kelly’s Heroes to name just a few are forever intertwined in my mind. I cannot hear the song and not think of the film scene that goes with it.

Have any faves?

The picture below was taken this morning.

Ground Cover

When I bought these (I have two), I was under the impression that they were ground cover. Katie seems to think they're mums. They've been blooming for almost a month now. I like them but I don't remember what the store said they were but I think I would have remembered if it was some sort of mum. It does look like stuff I saw in Minneapolis and New England to me. Any ideas?

Those flowers are pretty. I believe Katie just because, but they don't look like the mums in my garden - which you should be thankful for becuase of them being a mess that I am slowly trying to fix.

I don't have any soundtracks from movies, but I just got a Celtic music CD by the Magical Strings that is very fun music. I think I could Riverdance if I try.

I buy movie soundtracks all the time. I like the Sleepless in Seattle soundtrack, Get Shorty, Phenomenon, Blues Brothers, Big Chill, and the list could go on. I love compilation cds and movie soundtracks usually invoke a certain theme or era that appeals to me.

The Phenomenon soundtrack was my soaking in the tub cd for a very long time. The Sleepless in Seattle was my dinner party cd.

I can't think of any other movie soundtracks at the moment. I'll get back with you!

Grosse Point Blank, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Boys on the Side. There, those are among my favorites. Rob, I'll have to have another look at that plant. It still kinda looks like a mum.

I loved Grosse Point Blank but don't remember any song from it. Oh Brother has at least two great songs on it. I have "I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow" on an Alison Krause and Union Station CD. The song the sirens sing is awesome. Never saw Boys on the Side.

Rob--Where is the love for the Bladerunner soundtrack? Vangelis at his best.
