I'm working on getting my house ready for company and listening to XM radio on satelite. I absolutely love it! Here in the New Orleans area we don't have any decent radio stations. Hard to believe a city that bosts incredible music doesn't have a decent radio station, but it's true! And now, after Katrina it's even worse! We lost a few of the better stations to the storm. Kevin's work truck (which I drive when he's home) radio is stuck on some of the worse stations I've ever heard, and the scan button doesn't work. To my knowledge, no one in our family listens to those stations ever, so how the radio buttons got stuck on them I'll never know! I am the only one who ever has problems with that truck breaking down and now the radio, I do believe I have a poltergeist.
About XM, it is so great! We have always had music stations, but XM is new, and I'm thourougly enjoying it! Does anyone have the service on their car stereo? If so, how do you like it? Is it worth the service fees?

I don't know what XM Radio is. Is that on the tv? I have music stations with my digital cable that are pretty good. They break them down into all kinds of genres, 80s, 90s, classic rock, alternative, hit list, party favorites, etc. Is that what yours does? If so, what genre are you listening to?
And what's wrong with B97???!! Don't you just love the Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps"? That song will get your toe tapping every time!
Yes, it's on my TV. I used to get the same type of music that you get on Cable. I discovered the XM just a few days ago. It's broken down into genre's also, except it seems to be way better. Today I'm listening to 'Lucy' which is playing alternative hits. Stone Temple Pilots just finished and Pearl Jam is playing. I also listen to 'XM Cafe' it's a mix. The other night I heard Sarah MacLaughin(Sp? I'm too lazy to go look it up!) sing Blackbird by Paul McCartney. It was awesome!
I like the Black Eye Peas. My hump, My hump, My lovely lady humps! I mean what could be more poetic?
Where would that be on my television? Anyone? Anyone? Since I've had Cox, I didn't think I had music. I used to love that feature of The Dish.
Katie--
I joined the XM nation last Christmas and have it in my car and also a boom-box (so I can do like the commercial-pop the receiver out of the holder on my dash and into the boombox here in my office). I highly recommend it. If you subscibe, you can stream it online, as well, with a handful of extra channels like "one-hit wonders", etc. Go online to see which channels are converting to 24/7 Christmas songs starting tomorrow.
I got in before they increased their rates, but if you sign a multi-year contract, they reduce it. It is money well spent, and I'm glad Elizabeth "got it" for me last year.
Dan has it on his new truck, but both of us are thinking it's so-so. Kind of like cable or dish network. So many channels it's hard to choose. We have quite a few good stations here in the Twin Cities, so I doubt we'll keep it after the free period is up. I could see how it would be nice if you don't have good stations. I tend to listen to CD's when I'm driving anyway. Carol
I have the stations at home but I hardly ever listen. I can't listen to the radio for any length of time. I prefer CDs, too.
Kellie got me my XM radio for graduation last May and I love it! I had been looking at getting the portable MiFi radio (http://shop.xmradio.com/detail.aspx?pid=3&cat=7) for my motorcycle. Now it is all I listen to, whether we are in the car, our home, or while I am at the library. I listen to Lucy sometimes, but have become a fan of The Loft lately. It is great to listen to while doing homework, which I have plenty of. Kellie is a fan of the 90's, but I can only handle so much...it plays too much rap for my taste. There is such a thing as too much of Sir Mix Alot's "I LIke Big Butts!"
