Happy Birthday Aminah. Fifteen years ago at around 3:30 a.m. I awoke with sharp pains. I called my friend Natalee and she came over. My friend Kathy was also to be with me. Omar had bronchitis and so Hyder wouldn't be able to be in the delivery room with me. (After Omar's birth - he really didn't want to be in the delivery room and I really didn't want him there!) Kathy arrived around 6:00 and I said I was ready to go! Within minutes of arriving at the hospital (6:30a.m.) my water broke (all over Kathy - I hadn't made it the bed yet) and I said I needed to push. They ran and got the nurses and the midwife and at 7:01 Aminah was born. The most beautiful baby weighing 8lb. 12oz. Natalee was to be in charge of the pictures and she was given strict instructions not to take any inapropriate shots. Well, Natalee was training to be a midwife so my midwife decided to let her deliver Aminah. This meant that the nurse had nothing to do so without our knowledge the nurse took pictures of the entire birth. Although they are only for the family I am very happy that I have those special pictures of my very special baby! Aminah has been my right hand for many years and especially these last four years that I have been in school. She is Haytham's second mom and held this house together when I was at class, making dinner, helping kids with homework etc. Now -- she'll get a well deserved break since I am done with classes. Aminah, I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful daughter! Enjoy your day!

Happy, Happy, Aminah. Have a day.
A lovely tribute. Happy birthday. When Aminah was born, I wondered how I would remember her name. Someone suggested "Aminah go to the store." And forever after, that's what I say to myself when I hear her name.
Incidentally, I read several books by a Minnesota author with the pseudonym of John Sanford. All of his mysteries are set in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. One of the books said, "It's only in Minnesota that you will hear people use "onna" as "going to" -- I'm onna go to the store. And sure enough, I tried it and find that I do use it in just that way, although I had never considered it before.
No offense, Aminah. It's a beautiful and graceful name for a beautiful and graceful girl. Mary Catherine has a friend and neighbor named Aminah.
Happiest Birthday, Aminah. Enjoy your break from motherhood. What a nice big sister you are.
Janice, what a cool story. Don't worry. I'm not asking to watch the video. Are you still in touch with Natalee?
Belated Birthday Greetings, Miss Aminah. Hope you had a great day and the beginning of a great year.
