After church on Sunday, I went to see "Brokeback Mountain." I am on a new kick where I try to figure out where the director fits in. There is such praise heaped upon, for instance, Clint Eastwood, and the director of this movie, Ang Lee. I watched "Million Dollar Baby" twice last week, each time from the same point halfway through the movie. It was inadvertent both times, but I have to say now I'm going to try and watch the beginning too because there are some things I can't figure out. Anyway, I've been thinking about BBM for three days now, wondering if I liked it or if I did not and I have finally come to the conclusion that yes, I did like it. Whether or not I recommend it, I'm not sure. But it's not for children and yes, Stephen and Kellie and Brianne, that includes you too!! And my job of finding the director in these movies would be graded "F" I believe. I just don't get camera angles, shadows, low-key, long looks and so on. I know a film has to be directed, but I can't tell one director's work from another.

Of course I won't be seeing it. My mother does not allow me to see rated R movies and if I am not mistaken that movie falls in that category. I have seen the previews too and it doesn't really interest me. But I am glad that you enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it, Mom. Doubt I'll set aside any time to see it even when it comes on HBO. Just not my kind of movie. As for directors, some have a noticeable style to me but most don't. Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez movies are unmistakable. Bad direction is much more noticeable than good direction.
Aunt Ginnie, I'm with you, I can't tell one director from the next. The gal I walk with wants to see BBM and I'm curious, that and Heath Ledger isn't hard to look at. Brianne, you are a good girl to not see an R movie even though you are old enough. :) Carol
