Here are a couple of photos I took this past weekend. We were in Northern Minnesota (about an hour north of Duluth) for a snowmobile weekend since the girls had Monday off from school. There has been little snow around home so we were happy to find the trails actually had snow. We had a great time. An added bonus to going north this time of year is that there still is "open water". I had never seen such huge waves in the winter so this was amazing to watch. I just love Lake Superior!! As you can see by the gear Dan and Ashley are wearing (their snowmobiling outfits), it was rather chilly by the water. That said, I could've stayed for hours. I LOVE watching the waves. That truly was icing on the cake this weekend. Carol

Rob, I checked Mapquest. From Duluth up to Grand Portage is about 145 miles. Beautiful drive in the summer months.
Wonderful pictures, but for some reason, they did not inspire me to visit the area. It looks sooooo cold! Ashley is so pretty but where is her hat?? Dan is very handsome (and sensible-looking) with his hat. And you are doing great work with your new camera. Keep it up. It's such fun to open the blog and see pictures.

Ha ha Rob. You are so funny. I'm glad Laura was able to clear up that question for you. Aunt Ginnie, Ashley had her two hoods on but took them off for the few seconds it took to take the photo. A girl has to look good for the photo ya know. Angela, other than salt spray (and freezing temps) I felt like I was at the ocean. I often think of Lake Superior as the ocean of the north. Carol
Carol, I love the picture. Ashley has such a pretty smile! I can't imagine being near water during cold weather. I complain about the cold when it is 65F out!

Beautiful shots, Carol. And hey to you. I loved the picture page you sent at Christmas. I was going to send out pictures of my family, only I can't get anyone to take it while we are all together and looking decent. If I cared enough, I would do like my sisters do and threaten lives, ruin my week, and then pull people by their ears. You never see evidence of them doing this from the professional pictures they get. The children and mates are resigned now and just try to get it over with. Cheeeeeeese. Ashley and Nicole are beautiful girls. I completely understand about taking off a hat for a pic. It is always better to look good than to feel good. You know what I'm saying? Yes, I think you do.
