Calling on the Minnesotans

I have some friends that re-settled in St. Paul since Katrina. They found housing and resources to help them have their baby, she's 4 months old now. The husband just had surgery to fix a hernia last week. He suffered with that for years. He is talented with computers, designs web-sites and such. She used to run Synchronicity prior to my taking over. They are smart, responsible, and honest. They are very nice people. I am putting this out there because they need some assistance finding jobs. Anybody up there have openings in their work places? Kristina and Mike live near a bus line in St. P. Kristina, and probably Mike too, is adept at getting around with public transit. Also, if you have any winter (girl) clothes for a baby - I'd think she's a size 6-9 mos by now, but don't know for sure....

Help, please.

We've got yet another hiring freeze here at the County. A lot of places use the temp agencies, then hire them permanently from there.

I'm not much help in the baby clothes department these days but I'll keep my ears open.

Dan's shop has slowed down some and is not hiring. However, like Laura said, they go through a temp agency to do their hiring. I'll pass the word along. Carol

Hi! I work in Eden Prairie. Our school district is hiring two people in the tech dept. One is a systems amdinistrator---data and storage. The other is an applications developer.

Janine, I told Eric about this and he is very eager to get in touch with Mike. Eric recently started his own data storage business, but he has many ties to several organizations that do technical computer work if he's not right for Eric's type of work. Also, my old company West Publishing is always looking for computer people. I would be happy to give his resume to my old coworkers.

I also have plenty of baby clothes to pass on to them. Do you have an address for them? I would be happy to deliver a care package to their house. Also, Margaret said she has a kitchen table and chairs to donate.

Please let us know how we can get in touch with them.

Thanks so much, Mary. I will call Kristina and give her your numbers. Or vice versa. That's great.

Hello, I'm that 'needy' Katrina friend of Janine's....here's some info and prospects: Mike has no formal training but is very knowledgable and self taught on computers, learns fast, and is good at selling. If it's a job that will provide training, he's up for it. The temp agencies really aren't helpful, but the Workforce Solutions is. Also, I want to address Mary, who Janine tells me has been interested in running her own business.

My previous place of employment was The Fragrance Shop, located in the Riverwalk Mall, in New Orleans. Very awesome place! It will not be reopening in the forseeable future, given that the tourist industry is severely hurt. The main store is in Florida, and there is a smaller franchise in California. We in New Orleans received many wonderful customers from Minnesota, and surrounding areas such as Wisconsin and Canada. I feel certain a Fragrance Shop would do very well in either St. Paul or Minneapolis. We sold pure fragrance oils of designer names, that is to say our lab used a process known as gaschromotography to replicate the designer fragrances and put them in a base oil, thus allowing them to remain fragrant on the body (just use a dab!)for up to six to eight hours. Customers could also make their own custom scents with our assistance. We also sold some body care products (the lotions went very well for our northern customer with their dry skin) as well as handblown glass perfume bottle of a high end, classy nature by reputable artists, and we sold Lampe Bergers from Paris.

Here it is. I would like to call Jenny Kay, one of the members of this family owned enterprise and tell her that if there is anyone in Minnesota interested in opening a franchise, I would be very happy to help get it moving. I really loved this job, and only quit because I was having a baby! Here is the url to the shop's site to check out, if this sounds interesting to you. Contact info for franchising is on the site.
