The band opens the festival. This is the second band that marched in playing. I was too late to get a decent shot of the first.

The French Quarter Visitor Center is part of Jean Lafitte National Park and it is a wonderful place to visit AND rest. Don't tell anyone about the second part. A place with clean bathrooms that isn't too busy in the French Quarter? Solid gold.

We had a great time even though the weather alternated from hot to rainy and back a few times. We had the crepes again because we can't go all the way down to the French Quarter for this festival and not get them. They were especially good this time.

We're going on Sunday & heading straight for the Muriel's booth first. Can't wait!
It's in the same place. Also try the "Crawfish Francaise" at the American Culinary Institute booth, I think. That's how they spelled it.
I was listening to the music on WWOZ yesterday and wondering about your going to the FQF. I was sure you would go. Kermit Ruffins was playing his heart out. WWOZ will broadcast from there this weekend; you probably can't get reception out in the boondocks. Good music.
FQF is one of our faves, Janine. We went to the very first one and a few more afterwards but then we quit going for 15 years or so. We started going again on the 20th anniversary but we like going on Friday now. Thinner crowds, shorter lines, better parking etc........ We watched the Washboard Chaz Blues Trio on the river yesterday for about 15 minutes. That guy can sing. If you go to JazzFest, they'll be there, too. Worth seeing. If you like Mississippi Delta Blues, that is.
