Magna Cum Laude!!

Congratulations to Janice (aka: Punky) on your college graduation!!! Yesterday Janice graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bemidji State University with a BS in education with a Language Arts and English emphasis. In spite of the disgusting rainy weather, the day couldn’t have gone better. It was a 2 ½ hour program with at least 500 graduates (I think that’s what I heard). I went with my mom and dad; made it easier for them to attend having a helper. My mom and dad were so proud, ‘specially when they read that she was graduating with such top honors. Any college graduation/degree is a major accomplishment, but coupled with raising 5 children and working full time while attending classes is an unbelievable achievement! I’m so proud of you Punky!! Now you can get a little rest. Summer camping never sounded so good eh?! Here are some photos of the occasion. Carol

Congratulations, Janice. I'm in awe.

What a great Mother's Day present- to be finished with school! Congratulations on your fabulous accomplishment.

Congrats Punky!!! What a great day for you.
Also, congrats to the other grads in the family: Patrick Bye, Katie Bye, Christina Bye.

Congratulations Janice! It is a special accomplishment. You Go Girl!

Congratulations, Janice. I think this is a first in our family. Such a great honor and especially under some pretty harsh and uncompromising conditions -- motherhood, wifehood, employeehood. You did a wonderful thing and I'm proud to know you. I guess Hyder and the children should be congratulated too for being so special and so good for you so you could study and get your work done. All in all, it's lovely news.

Way to go, Janice!! I'm not worthy.

Congratulations. You deserve a big treat.

And congrats to the other cousins - Patrick, Christina, and Katie. Good job. What's for the future? College? Tech school? Job prospects or internship?

I love seeing the pictures of your family, Janice. Thanks, Carol. Your Mom and Dad look great. The kids are all beautiful (or handsome as the case may be). Fun to see them.

Congratulations, Janice, on your graduation and also on graduating with honors - that is awesome! Great pictures, Carol.

Thank you all for your comments. And a big thank you to Carol for being with my mom and dad, taking pictures and posting them on the blog! I couldn't have imagined the day without you and mom and dad. I am findng it all a little surreal that I'm finished. There are still habits like waking up at four to study that I hope will go away. I was able to sleep in until 5 at my mom and dad's Friday night, so maybe it's possible. I do have to thank my family for helping me make it through the last five years. I special thanks to Aminah and Asiyah for being my right hand. I was pregnant with Haytham when I started this program and could not have raised him or done studying without their help.

FYI: Katie graduated from UW-Madison, Patrick from St.Cloud University and Christina from College of St.Thomas(she now heads to med school at the U of M).

Congratulations, Janice, especially on graduating with honors! I find it particularly amazing that it only took you four years--considering having a baby and then teaching! When did you ever find the time?
