I have a few more to post, but since this one came out so big, and I have no time to resize and go through this process again, I will let this picture tell the story.
We had a great day at Katie and Kevin's house yesterday. They put out a bountiful spread; baked ham, coldcuts and sliced cheeses, grilled mackerel, potato salad, Katie's delicious hearts-of-palm salad, baked beans, cheese and crackers, chips, pickles and olives, seven-layer dip which is always a crowd pleaser. We had carrot cake, doberge cake, and two different kinds of ice cream for dessert. Everyone was satiated. We had nice weather and there were those lovely oaks that the little people loved climbing in. Under the expansive shade of that oak is a swing set that children took turns on. The grounds were lovely, blackberries are ripening, and the roses in the backyard put out their sweet aroma that one could smell an acre away.
I took home some of Katie's salad last night and that was my supper, topped off by a Ghirardelli mint patty. Ah, the rewards of being a Mom. My children bring out the best in me.

Sounds like a fabulous day! What fun for the kids to be able to play and climb outside. Wish we had your nice weather, it's been wet and rainy for so long now I can hardly remember what the sun looks like :(. Carol
That's a good representative picture of the kind of day it was, Janine. Excellent.
I laughed at this picture. I can almost hear Polina telling Jacob to either "get down, Jacop" or "come here, Jacop." She has that bossy stance but Jacob's attitude is that he's five and she's four and she is not the boss of him!! The other boys in the tree are Jackson de Gruy and Jim Soule. Julia Manguno is standing at the table. I want to reiterate the fragrance in the air that Janine mentioned. As we were walking through a field of clover, I first thought someone was wearing a really pretty perfume. And then I decided it must be the clover. But Katie said it was the huge "Seven Sisters" rose display climbing on a far-off fence. I have never been outdoors and had such a delightful fragrance waft over me. Katie's rose collection is really old. No hybrids here. The blooms look like Minnesota peonies!
