Rob -- Put on your memory cap and see if I'm correct. I believe I made a mistake (gasp) in the date of Grandma Tompkins' death. I put it at 1978. I think it was 1975, the year you graduated from high school at age 18 (that's where the "8" came from). If you agree, would you mind going in and changing it? I tried, but once again I failed. I did it one time and I don't know how I did it but I remember thinking it wasn't all that hard. Now, it's beyond me.
And on a lesser note, have you noticed that now people say "graduated high school," rather than adding a "from" like I did above? I don't know how that came about, but it's been quite awhile since it started. In fact, my friend Erline always said that, and it was many years ago when she and I worked together.

I changed it but I honestly don't remember what year it was, Mom. I don't think she outlived him by five years. Do you?

I had it in my head that Grandma died in 1974. I went into the Social Security Death Index website to check. You (of course) were correct Aunt Ginnie. The website doesn't give date of date, only the month and year. There it is in black & white, April, 1975.
I thought there was more time in between my two grandmothers funerals. "Granny" died June 29, 1975. She was born in 1903 so was just a bit younger than Grandma. Granny thought Grandma sounded too old, that's why she preferred "Granny".
Thank you for checking that, Laura. Beth, too, had doubts because she knew Granny died in 1975 and she felt that it was shortly after Grandma Tompkins. I'm usually good on dates, but not this time.
Back in those days, people didn't ask how old a person was. It just wasn't done, but it was okay to speculate. My mother didn't know how old Granny was until you revealed it just now.
I always thought she was such a fun person to be around.
