Mid-Week Get Away

Last week Nanc and I went up to Lake Superior for a mid-week get away. We were lucky and had absolutely wonderful weather! We met about half way and then drove together. When we got up to the boat we ventured to one of my favorite beaches and actually swam in the water! A little chilly, but refreshing. We went to Madeline Island for dinner at a really good restaurant and the food was great! The next day we went to Sand Island and hiked the 2 ½ mile trail to the lighthouse. After we toured the lighthouse (climbing to the top) we went down on the rocks to take pictures and get a better view. The last day we just went souvenir shopping in Bayfield before we headed home. On the way home the sky kept getting darker and darker until it finally started to pour. Thankfully it waited ‘til we were heading home! All in all a great way to spend some of the last few days of summer. Nanc took some pictures too, so maybe she’ll be able post some more of the scenery.

Wonderful pictures. Did you spend the night on the boat? Or more than one night? I couldn't tell how long you were gone. A great way to bring summer to an end. I guess Ashley and Nichole will be headed back to school next week, but maybe not Ann amd Zachary? Katie is taking Lars to school this weekend. He'll be five hours away so we might not see him again till Thanksgiving, unless he can hitch a ride from someone coming in this direction. All the others started a few weeks ago and are already in the swing of things. And the baby watch goes on.

Looks like you had great time. I'm jealous. Oh, well maybe next year.
Haytham starts kindergarten today. He's seems very nervous although he's been running the halls of the school since he could walk! Hamzah started yesterday and had what seems to be a great first day. Aminah had her open house yesterday and is very excited about her "great schedule" Asiyah starts at a new school next week.
Omar is having a good time in UAE although I guess he is a little sick from the typhoid medication he has to take. It was a good thing Hyder spoke with him yesterday - I would have broken down - hearing my baby not feeling well. He heads to India on Thursday. Hopefully he'll be feeling better.

Beautiful pics, Carol. I'm jealous, too.

We did have a great time. We stayed on the boat, but used (my boat) a smaller one to go trekking around. I still can't drive the big one. Ashley and Nicole start school next tuesday. We had open house last night. Nicole is happy to see her friends, but not about getting back into the homework routine. Ashley is happy to be back at home...sewing, sewing, sewing. She's sewing her costume for the Renaissance Festival. Then, she'll make her homecoming dress and who knows what else. Carol

Great pictures. That sounds like fun, Carol and Nancy. I love walking trails and being near water. That's neat that you had a little boat and a big boat. Thank goodness for boys and their toys.

Janice, all your people are at different schools, eh? It is so cool that Omar is getting such an adventure. He'll have stories to tell.
