Omar and his uncle spent a week in the mountains of India. He took a six hour train ride and then it took another one hour by car to reach their destination. There was no running water or electricity but Omar said it was amazing. He said he could see Mount Everest from his mountain top.

That's not fog in the background, he's in the clouds.

This was the most work I've done loading pictures. Sorry for clogging up the blog. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

OK Rob, I've tried three times to post the pix and it keeps asking for my user name and password for Authorized Users Only". It doesn't accept my password. HELP
Janice -- this might have something to do with Robbie's cable being down. It wouldn't accept my password either for the first three or four tries but just kept flipping back to that little box, and then voila! there it was. It's never done that before, so I think that must be what it is. If you go to Robbie's page, you'll see a picture of the downed cable and an explanation of what it is, and I think that's been there since Monday. He says they tell him they'll be on the way and then don't show up. And he doesn't want to call too often, I think, for fear of antagonizing them and then it will never get fixed.
I can't wait to see the pictures when they show up!
Janice,
You were in the Reunion Blog when you uploaded those pictures. I had to delete them because I currently don't have the means to move them. You'll have to re-upload them. Make sure you're in The Family Blog when you do. If you could convert them to JPG images, that would also be helpful. Those BMP images are very large.
Thanks Rob for your help. I did re-enter this entry into the family blog after I realized I was in the wrong place, but it still didn't accept the entry. I always reduce my photos but next time I'll try the JPG images
Wonderful pictures, Janice. And what a great experience for him. Was that a gradual path for them to sort of glide up, or were they actually mountain climbing? When does he start school? What language do they all speak and is he proficient in it? I think all of India is proficient in English though so he's probably not having any problem. You must be anxious for him to finish up and come home; he's so young and that's so far away.
Aunt Ginnie,
No mountain climbing was involved in actually getting to the top. They did a lot of hiking and Omar did strain his back a bit, but nothing to severe. For the most part Omar can get by with English. Hyder's family speaks Urdu (but are all fluent in English) which I'm sure Omar is picking up rather quickly. His classes have started and he's seems to be enjoying them. Yes we all miss him, especially his little brother Haytham who has no sense of time - he keeps asking if Omar is on the airplane.
What beautiful scenery, and what a fantastic trip for Omar. I know that was some trouble for you, Janice, so thanks for taking the time to upload the pictures.
