The signs went up today. We will hopefully open on March 1st. Phil got disappointing news today. He was told he would not have his liquor license in time to sell alcohol and snacks for Mardi Gras. He was never planning to be open before Mardi Gras, but he was hoping to at least sell beer & fries. He is in a prime parade location and the exposure would have been good. For a city that's trying to rebuild, they sure do make start up businesses go through a lot of red tape. The liquor license is being held up by the state electrical inspector. In order to have a liquor license, he has to have walls. Well, the walls are not finished yet because we're still waiting on the electrical inspector - 9 days and counting. Cross your fingers all goes well over the next couple of weeks.
Phil will have a VIP night two nights before opening, to give his staff an opportunity to practice. So keep your calendars open on Tuesday, Feb. 27th.

Congratulations. About that VIP night: Semolina's Bistro Italia did the same thing. We were lucky enough to get an invite. That's an excellent idea.
By the way, where is this?
Christina,
Where is Phil's Grill located and will it be open for lunch?
Phil's Grill is located on Severn across from Lakeside shopping center. It used to be the O'Henry's. And yes, it will be open for lunch and dinner. He's working on a website at phils-grill.com, but it's not quite ready yet. Congrats to Phil for getting this dream up and running! It's too bad about the beauracracy he's encountering.
Got my calendar marked. My family unit will be happy to help with ironing out the service kinks before the opening. It's going to go over like gang-busters, so you'd better be ready.
The long awaited inspections happened today. It lasted all of 3 minutes and he didn't inspect a thing. The sheet rockers are working the weekend to catch up so March 1 may still be an option.
Thanks for all the kind words.
I passed Phil's Grill today on my way home from the boys' Boy Scout parade. Julia and Shelby wanted to see it too. Very impressive. It is looking good. Your signs are great and very visible. And, yes, the men were working, by the looks of things.
