Have a day

Happy Birthday, Mary Catherine. You are turning into such a beautiful, graceful young lady. I can't wait to see you dance at games and in parades. This is going to be such an awesome year for you. I wish you many more.

Happy 15th Birthday, you Darling Girl! You were such a beautiful, happpy, baby and you have grown into a beautiful, lovely, young lady. You know, in the olden days, when a lady reached the age of 15 she was considered to be of a marriageable age? Whoa, can you imagine? Mind boggling isn't it! I hope you enjoy your special day, and that you have a wonderful, carefree and exciting 15th year!

Happy Birthday, Mary Catherine.

I bought your card last month. Stuffed it with plenty of cash. Addressed and stamped it. Touched it every few days to review your date and the day's date.

I thought I was on top of things until I noticed it was still atop the microwave. It hadn't taken itself to the Post Office as I expected.

I'm sorry it's late. No excuse. Watch for the mailman.

My first comment went fine but then it told me there was no server and erased it. So I re-wrote it, trying to remember what I had said because I didn't want to tax my brain too much. Then, and here's where it gets interesting, I tried to delete the first one. It asked me if I wanted to delete these four comments, including Janine's and Katie's. I kept saying no, no, no. But one time I said no and I thought it deleted them anyway because they weren't in the column of comments. I came back to the blog, and here they are, all four. I guess they can stay, although if anyone wants to give it a try, the top one is the one to delete. The second one is more to my liking, although both are excellent.

I hate computers.

What you did is delete all of the comments on your "Not Much" entry (Mine, Janine's, and Katie's). Thankfully, they were not permanently deleted and I was able to restore them, Morticia.

You don't think it's a little bit funny? I don't, but I should think you would.

Yes, I thought the Morticia part was funny but the website trouble you were having bothers me. Not sure what's left for me to do about it.

It's all funny. Morticia, try a little patience. I have learned to preview the entry and then post it.

You are doing a heck of a job maintaining the blog and updating it, Robbie. My blog server changes things on me periodically and then it takes me a while to adjust to those changes. Morticia will adapt. She's a smart cookie.

And Katie reminded me of how things used to be for 15 year old women. They are still that way in some cultures. It's even happening here in America, amongst some polygamists in parts around the U.S. (How'd you like to hear, "Have I got a match for you, MC. He's 52 and very nice. You'll like him.")

Janine,

Your comment reminds me of a song I'm sure you'll remember.

Hodel, oh Hodel,
Have I made a match for you!
He's handsome, he's young!
Alright, he's 62.
But he's a nice man, a good catch, true?
True.

I promise you'll be happy,
And even if you're not,
There's more to life than that
Don't ask me what.

Chava, I found him.
Won't you be a lucky bride!
He's handsome, he's tall,
That is from side to side.
But he's a nice man, a good catch, right?
Right.

You heard he has a temper.
He'll beat you every night,
But only when he's sober,
So you're alright.

Did you think you'd get a prince?
Well I do the best I can.
With no dowry, no money, no family background
Be glad you got a man!

Rob -- I don't know why, but at your advanced age, and mine, you can still surprise and amaze me. Good on you!

Thanks, Mom, but I had to look up the lyrics. I didn't remember all of the words but I thought it was similar to Janine's comment and I know she's seen the movie. All of the Ferrara children are fairly well-versed in Fiddler.
