This past weekend was Prom weekend. Dan, Nicole and I went to the Grand March and saw all the couples and a few girls that walked in it even though they didn’t have a date. Ashley and her friends did that last year. Ashley went with a friend. There were over 20 couples in her “group” and only 3-4 actual “couples”. They split up and went to two restaurants. Ashley’s group ate at a place called Granite City. We have one near us and usually the food is pretty good and the prices are reasonable, but she said the one they went to had only marginal food. They had fun nonetheless. After the dance most of them went to another friend’s house for an “after party”. They played games, jumped on the trampoline and generally just hung out. She slept a few hours. As a result of all the activities she got a doozy of a cold/sore throat. I took her to the Dr. yesterday to rule out strep throat or pneumonia and basically she’s just really worn down and has a bad cold. According to her, it was so much fun, totally worth it and she’d do it again. Actually, I’m glad she had fun but am not thrilled with her being sick. Here are some pictures from prom. She made her dress again this year, a Romanesque style. She didn’t use a pattern except for the fitted top part, otherwise she created it herself. She had her hair done in a Greek style which I thought turned out great.
Also, you’ll notice in the pictures is a picture of Nicole’s car after she turned into a truck….misjudged the distance between her and the truck. She’s fine, it was her fault and now she’ll have to pay ½ of the deductible to have it fixed. Ah, new drivers! All in all, an eventful weekend. Now to finish the school year.

Ashley's dress in the wind

Very nice pics, Carol. Sorry about the fender bender.
Beautiful girls. And beautiful dresses. I loved Ashley's very elegant dress. Gorgeous color -- would you say grape? It looked to me like there was a boy for every girl in the group pictures??? Katie's Amy went last year with a group of girls, but I think this year she had a date. In my day, I would not have gone to a prom without a date. No. My mother suggested to my brother Pat that he take our cousin Mary Joan O'Connell to a ball at his school, but I'm not sure that he did. They talked about it, without including me in their conversation, but it might not have happend. It wasn't an option back then for him to go alone though, so I know he went with someone.
Gorgeous!!! Why bother paying the professionals for Ashley's graduation picture? I think you have it in the close-up of her.
How is Nicole after her accident? I know Aminah would be just sick. Did she have any trouble getting back in the saddle?
Thanks Punky for the nice comments about the photos. I'm still learning and every once in a while I get a good photo. :) Nicole was very sad about the accident but is handling it pretty well now. Her car is in the repair shop now. Aunt Ginnie, I too wouldn't have gone to prom without a date. But, they do things differently now and I think it's better to include everyone. The girls love to dress up.
I got in an accident only 5 days after getting my license to drive at 17. Sorry to hear of Nicole's mishap, but glad she wasn't hurt. Experience is a good teacher.
The dress was gorgeous, and so is Ashley. She is so talented. Very impressive. Sounds like it was a lovely evening.
Beautiful dress, Ashley, and you looked stunning in it! What a pretty group of people. Sounds like it was a fun night.
