17 years. Still have the scar. I still have the work bench and table saw I bought that day to do the job, too. The date is stenciled into the surface of the work bench (07/08/90). Scott Soule had to come over and finish the job temporarily. I ended up paying a friend $200 to do the permanent work. After spending $450 for the saw and $99 for the bench, someone might say I should have just let the friend do the job to begin with. I'd agree with them.
Oh, and it was ten stitches. It was doubled. I think there was one layer with three stitches and another with seven.
For those who don't know or remember, I was working on my roof. I was on my aluminum ladder. It shifted and one leg fell into a hole. Instead of falling with the ladder, I tried to hold on to the roof. This allowed the ladder to fall into perfect position so that I could land on it with my right shin. The ladder cut all the way to the bone and the fall pulled all of that skin up about 6 inches, exposing my shin bone (Wasn't as interesting to see as you'd think). It really didn't hurt much but I told Patsy I was going to take a shower and we were going to the hospital. Seems surreal to think of it now.
