Sue and I watched Dark Shadows when we were kids. Not sure if anyone else in the family did. I only remember a handful of the characters. Barnabus Collins and Quentin come to mind. Seeing an episode as an adult many years after it first aired dimmed my fascination somewhat. It was campy and more than a little dreadful. A movie might be fun, though. Johnny Depp's production company has bought the rights to it. I think he'd be pretty good as Barnabus but I wonder if they'd play it as a serious movie or a dark comedy. I'd go for the dark comedy.

I remember it used to come on every day at 3:00. We would have to sneak to watch it because it was forbidden in our house. I'm trying to imagine it as a dark comedy? I think because I was younger I remembered it as very scary and suspenseful. (Maybe getting caught watching it intensified the fear factor!)
It was scary to us back then, too, Janice. I'm thinking they may choose to improve the acting and production and try to make it a blockbuster or play up how incredibly bad it was and go the dark comedy route.
I remember watching that, too. Just the music intro would give me goosebumps! I'd love to see an episode of that now. It was the "soap" of the day we all waited for after school!
