Luke is 1 year old!

Today is Luke's 1st birthday. Since we celebrated on Sunday there will be no fanfare today. He doesn't know any different. I keep singing "Happy Birthday" to him, which he seems amused by. We had a cookie monster cake for him on Sunday and he got to dive into it for a little while. The remnants of the cake are all over his face in the first picture. The second picture was taken today right after we did a photo session with a photographer. I had to do it on his birthday even though he still has somewhat of a black eye. He got a terrible black eye two weeks ago when he fell down our front steps. It was Joey's fault but I'm not pointing any fingers. :)

In other news, we're buying a new house. We go to act of sale on Sept. 27th. Last Friday we put a sign in front of our house. I'm going to miss this house, especially my nursery, but it's just too small for us now. We're having a lot of people slow down and look at the house and my agent has had a few calls on it. She showed it to an elderly lady and her sister and son yesterday and they loved it. They used to live in Lakeview and lost everything in Katrina. The elderly lady asked my agent how long she had to let us know and she told her son that she wanted the house. Hopefully we'll have an offer soon. I buried my statue of St. Joseph upside down in the yard and have been saying his prayer daily to ensure a quick sale. My house is so neat and tidy right now. Wish I could manage to live like this always. Of course, we did move out about 15 boxes of stuff and some furniture to make the house more ready to show. I hope I don't have to show it too often because it's killing me to be so neat!! Samuel and Luke only have a few toys out so Samuel has found other things to entertain himself, namely all of my serving utensils. I keep finding spatulas and ladles all over the house. The thought of packing and moving everything in this house is extremely daunting! But the thought of all the space we'll have in our new house is extremely exciting!

Happy Birthday to that big boy. Sorry we couldn't make the party. Sunday was Bobette's birthday. Congrats on the new house. Where will it be?

Happy Birthday Luke!!! And congrats on the new house, I saw the virtual tour the last time I was home. It looks great!

Now why put St. Francis in the ground and why specify that he should be upside down? I must have missed this one in Catholicism 101. And where are you moving to (other side of the lake)? Is that where you moved your boxes and furniture? I just moved a buddy of mine from work out of his old house and into storage, because they have not found a house to move into yet. He is currently living with his in-laws. Yikes! Oh yeah, happy birthday Luke!

Stephen, it's a statue of St. Joseph, not St. Francis. I'm not really sure what the significance of it is except that everybody here tells you to do it when you're trying to sell your house. My friend did it last February and her house sold within 3 days of listing it. Her statue of St. Joseph, which was wrapped in saran wrap and then buried, now resides on the mantle of her new house. And no, we're not moving across the lake. We'll still be in Metairie, about 5-10 minutes from where we are now. We moved our boxes to Joey's brother Mike's house.

Congratulations on Luke's 1st birthday and your new house! Both very exciting times. The thought of packing up to move is enough to give me(and anyone else) a headache. Good time to purge the house of stuff you really don't need. Good luck selling your present home.

Re, burying the Saint Joseph statue - I knew it had something to do with Saint Joseph being a carpenter but didn't remember the reason for burying a statue of him. I googled it and there were several sites on the subject. I looked at the first one and am giving you the link:

Happy Birthday Luke!!!! I can't believe he is already a year old. Also congratulations on your new home. I love your house but I'm sure you need more room with two growing boys. You're not going to have any trouble selling it.

Luke is adorable. Happy Birthday.
