Was George Mikan in the line up for the Lakers that day?
I don't think so. I think he came later.
My only interest at that game was a young man who kept turning around to look at me. I was ignoring him until my mother poked me and said I think he likes you. And then my face turned purple and my night was ruined.
I had on a white Gibson girl blouse which just came into fashion and a navy blue skirt and for once looked fairly stylish, for an 8th grader.
Who do you think babysat for you to go see "Full of Life"?
Grandma Ferrara was our babysitter. Robbie was just a few weeks old and I think she held him the whole time. Did you ever see that movie? If it ever comes on, watch it because it was very good, very funny. Daddy especially loved it because
it was about an Italian father and son relationship.
Rob -- Thanks. I fought that last night for at least an hour until finally the computer said give it up and get on to bed. And then, this morning, when I went back to it, it gave me the same "error, get out of here" message. I guessed that you might have just left the site and it didn't want to be fiddled with by me again. All I was trying to do was correct a misspelled word and delete a double entry, and now that I have learned how to do that, I figured it would go quite simply. Wrong. So anyhow, thank you again.
Re: George Miken. I looked him up on the internet and learned that he was MVP for the 48-49 season of the Minneapolis Lakers. So that should tell you how much I watched the game, or what I knew about basketball!
Mom - I'll have to watch for "Full of Life". I'm Judy Holliday fan. In a comment on IMDB.com someone mentions that the film was made in 1956 but withheld from distribution by the Production Code Office because it showed a woman who was pregnant. Or should I say, "in a family way"?
I believe p.g.. was the correct term. Or "expecting" was also considered
appropriate. I'm not so sure, but I might still use that one. I'll have to
think about it. Can't remember just now. Let me know how you like it if
you get to see it. I watched a 1956 movie last night with John Wayne called
"The Searchers." It was very long and somewhat foolish and made me very
anxious about how they talked about and treated the Indians. They were
certainly not politically correct in word or deed! Actually it was quite
terrible and I thought that was modern times, somewhat.
The first time I heard the term "p.g." was when it was used by a high school teacher who then had to explain what it stood for. In a classroom of 30 freshman, none had ever heard that term used for pregnancy.
Look at all the things PG is an acronym for:
