Brianne interviewed on Friday at Bramlett Elementary School. It is in neighboring Barrow County. The school is 13.2 miles from our house. She said that the interview went very well and that on Friday the principal all but offered her the job. The principal told Brianne that she had conducted some interviews that morning, but that she really liked her and the things she was saying. Brianne was asked if she would prefer first or second grade because there were openings in both. Brianne told the principal that she loved both of the grades and could not make up her mind. The principal told her that she thought she would be great at both grade levels.
All weekend Brianne thought about what she liked about both grade levels and she kept coming back to second being her favorite. It was in second grade that she chose teaching as a future career. She says that second grade was her favorite year of her school career and she fully credits the teacher for making the year so wonderful. Anyway, she received an email from the principal today offering her a second grade teaching position for next year. She is elated and so are we!
Tomorrow is her last day of student teaching in first grade in Gray, Georgia. She has had a very good experience, but is looking forward to graduation on May 10th. She will begin graduate school for a Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy at Georgia State in June.

Congratulations, Brianne.
Congratulations Brianne. I am so happy and excited for you. Karla taught second grade and loved it. You're going to be great. I have a hard time thinking that you are already finished college and will now be teaching!!!!! It just doesn't seem possible.
Hoo-Ray!
Congratulations on your upcoming graduation and new job!!! Anne will also graduate on May 10 with a degree in Interior Design---keep your fingers crossed that her job search is as successful as yours:) Now, on with your life!
Great news, Brianne! My last year of teaching, I taught second grade! I really enjoyed the age! You are so lucky to know already! Thirteen miles from your house--does that translate into 13 minutes drive time or do you hit dreaded traffic making it a long drive? After Katrina, I had to drive Joe to school from Madisonville. Normally, it would have been a 10 minute drive, but it sometimes took 45 minutes!!
I can't believe you are starting Graduate school right away. That is definitely the way to go.......before you get out of the student mode.
Congratulations!!
Hi Sue and Brianne!
Congratulations on your new job. How exciting! I teach second grade and so does my brother Thomas. I think it's a GREAT age. Let me know if you ever need any second grade material! :)
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful day!
Take care,
Katie
