Barrett - 4 Months

Barrett was 4 months old on Sunday and made his first trip to the lake house. He slept the whole ride in the back seat with Flick, who was a bit of a seat hog. I wish I had a picture of it. Every time we stopped Flick would stand up in the back and look out the window. In the process her tail would whack Barrett in the face and wake him up. He in turn would start crying and she would get a little frustrated with him and try to move as far away from his car seat as she could. Needless to say, the two kept us pretty entertained the whole way up.

Barrett got his 4 month picture while he was out catching some rays. He did not get in the water since it was so low by our dock. The water was also pretty muddy so I am not sure I would have put him in it anyway. He was an angel the whole weekend though. Miss Sue brought her pack-n-play so we wouldn't have to pack ours up and he slept in it very well...despite the air conditioning being broken! He had to spend most of the weekend in his t-shirt and diaper.

Barrett saw the doctor today for his 4 month check-up and she said he looked great. He weighed in at 14.7 lbs. which is in the 40% for his age. He is a shorty though! He is only 23 3/4 inches long (12%) and his head circumference is only 15 3/4 (6%). We were assured by the doctor that he is growing proportionately and that we shouldn't worry. He flirted with the doctor the entire time (smiled and cooed), which she loved and commented on several times. This all ended when they came in to give him his shots. He got 4 shots today and one oral vaccine. He was not happy! He quieted quickly afterward though and slept all the way home. We are planning to start cereal to increase his caloric intake in hopes that he will sleep as well as he once was...we plan to start on a day when he is feeling better. I am sure we will have some interesting pictures once that starts.

P.S. Last weekend, Barrett took his first trip to Waffle House. Stephen couldn't resist getting him a hat. We think we would be a shoe in for a job there...he already meets the "no teeth" requirement.

Love the one with the book.

Those are adorable pictures. I love the one with the book too! What was he reading...Shakespeare?!! Too cute.

What a nice holiday weekend. It's a shame about the lake's water level though. Haven't you had an inordinate amount of rain up there? Where is it all going, I wonder. Barrett's pictures are beautiful. My favorite was the crooked grin w/sunglasses, but they were all good. Funny about Flick's wagging tail waking him up and causing her concern. She's a good girl.

Love the pictures. He is so cute and such a happy baby. He has the cutest smile. I can't wait to finally see him next week and get to kiss those chubby cheeks!!!!!

Love, love, love the book picture! He's so cute! Hope I get to see him again soon. I see he's wearing the bathing suit that you bought him while I was with you- looks good on him.

Great pictures! What a happy boy:)

I'll have a new job at a new school next year and would love to blow up the book picture to put in my reading corner of the classroom!

Janice -- What a cute idea. Tell us about your new job -- Closer to home? Same school your children attend? Teaching same grade? Exciting or daunting or a little of both? Come on, you have all day to tell. Or wait. Your schools go a little longer than ours. Maybe you're still at work. Anyway, it was good to hear from you. Have a great summer.

Aunt Ginnie,
I've been with the same school for the last 13 years, most recently as the Vice Principal. I will be moving to a new International Baccalaureate charter school. I'll be teaching 2nd grade and I couldn't be more excited! Haytham and Hamzah will stay at their current school which is very close to where I'll be. I also plan on going back and getting my MA. Never a dull moment:)
