The boys started school today, just a half day though. They came home with oodles of paperwork and books for me to cover with contact paper. I dread this task each year. I breathed a sigh of relief as I left them in their classrooms. It has been a long summer and I have been counting down the days for them to go back to school. Normally, we are off and running in the summer with not much down time. This summer however, we have been home mostly, because of the baby. It's not easy going anywhere with an infant! Needless to say, the boredom set in quickly. So, hurray for school...especially since I'm staying home!! We're going to dinner tonight for our annual first day of school dinner, a tradition Sue started with her family that I have mimicked. Sue used to visit the same restaurant each year, a Mexican one, until it closed and now I believe they still do Mexican but at a different restaurant. We do a different restaurant each year. But as Elizabeth pointed out when I told her about it, it's not exactly a special treat when you go out to eat as often as we do! Back in the day, Sue didn't eat out much so it was a treat for them. I wish I could say the same. Still, the boys enjoy it and we do too. We're undecided on where to go. All of us have a different opinion. We'll see who wins.
Jude was 3 months old yesterday. He had his monthly check up today and was 9 pounds, 10 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. His doctor is wowed by his growth, she must have said how great he was doing 5 times. He's still not on the regular growth chart though. She tried to show me the graph but it all looks like gibberish to me. I could not figure out what it meant. There's a preemie growth chart, which is what Jude is still on, but she didn't give me his statistics. I assume by our 4 month check up we'll be on the 'normal' chart since she said we were so close this time. He got one vaccine this time, the HIB vaccine and the doctor assured me he didn't need tylenol as it was such a mild vaccine with no side effects. He's in the baby bjorn(papoose) as I write and has been unwilling to be put down since we got home. I'm determined to get this posted though!

Jude

Jude

Wonderful pictures. Four big boys -- quite a houseful!
Wow, I can't believe you guys start school already! The boys look adorable in their uniforms. I always wished that the kids wouldn't start 'til October 'cause September is such a pretty month in MN. Jude looks really healthy and cute. I'm glad he's doing so well. By you staying home, does that mean for now or forever? Either way I'm sure you'll enjoy your special time w/Jude.
Beautiful, darling boys.
Jude is so cute. His progress is very incredible. I can't believe how well he is doing for coming into the world a couple of months early. It just seems that it shouldn't be that way, but modern medicine does such wonderful things. His good health and size are miraculous to me.
As for school starting, I also breathe a sigh of relief and love my free-floating days. Aaron and Julia love school. I often threaten to pull them out and home school (don't tell them I am too lazy to do that) when they complain about things that bother them about classes or teachers. Whatever troubles they have diminish and they just deal with it. Home schooling, in theory, still appeals to me, but they love the social element, the challenges, and all of the variables that school offers.
Great pictures of the boys. The first day of school is always a special one, even as the years go by. Our kids used to start school ~Aug 18-20 but when they were in high school the rules changed and then they started after Labor Day. They were big fans of the Aug start because it meant they'd be done before Memorial Day.
Jude seems to be progressing on schedule, enjoy your days with him. We'll have no one in school this year--for the first time in 22yrs!
The boys looks so cute in their school uniforms and very happy to be going to back to school. I guess I haven't seen you guys in a while because they look like they have sprouted up over the summer. Jude is so adorable. I still say except for the blonde hair, there is something about him that reminds me of Mr. Sam. I'm so glad that he is healthy and happy and doing so well.
Now that you say it, Barbara, he does have my Dad's expression on his precious face.
Nancy, do you miss it? It is exciting. Julia couldn't get to sleep easily that first night. When she woke me up at 11pm to tell me she couldn't sleep, I instinctively rolled back the covers for her to climb into bed with me. That lasted about a minute. We forgot that she grew in the last few years - outgrowing being able to do that. I wasn't thinking. Same as back then, I just wanted to get back to sleep - not caring where the bodies landed.
