Okay, Barrett was 6 months almost a month ago but Stephen got a new program on his Mac and it made it more difficult to send pictures. I really don't understand it all I just know I was unable to attach pictures to an email so that Uncle Robbie could upload them for me. He is so good!
We were in Myrtle Beach when Barrett turned 6 months so we decided to take his picture on the beach. We had a lot of cute ones from the trip though so it was hard to pick just one...I hope y'all feel the same way I do. The whole family went and we had a lot of fun. Barrett seemed to love his naps on the beach. The waves lulled him to sleep and he would go for hours. He didn't love the ocean water but the place we stayed had a lazy river and he seemed to really enjoy just floating around. He is a laid back kind of guy.
Since the trip, Barrett has displayed on a lot of new talents. He can sit up unsupported, give kisses (he grabs your face and pulls you toward him), babble on and on, and he is scooting all over! I love it! Tonight, Stephen was trying to dress Barrett for bed and he took off before Stephen could get his diaper on. I guess he is going to be a streaker like his Uncle David. He was all over the room exploring everything. We got it on video so hopefully Stephen can get that uploaded so that you all can see it. I say he is officially crawling but Stephen doesn't think so yet. Oh, he is in love with the newspaper and if we want to get him moving all we have to do is lay it out and he is off. He likes to crinkle it and eat it! I don't think it is good for babies to eat newsprint so I have to take it from him immediately after he attacks it and he gets so mad. Flick is not too excited about his new found mobility, especially because he has taken great interest in her tail.
Since we are back in school, Barrett is with his babysitter, Miss Beverly, during the day and is doing very well. I think he is learning a lot from his new friends. It makes it so much easier to drop him off and leave. I was so worried about it but he always has a smile on his face when I drop him off and when I pick him up.
I am loving this time in our lives!

Barrett

Great pictures! I love the one of his feet in the sandals! Absolutely precious. Jude got a pair of those shoes as a gift, he doesn't quite fill his in yet. Glad to hear he's doing well at the babysitter. These are fun times. I'm being reminded of that daily with Jude.
I love these pictures. Barrett reminds me so much of Stephen at that age. And I laughed out loud at the picture of the toes in the flip-flops -- you must have stapled his feet in there to keep them on! All of you look very beautiful, very handsome in the group picture. Folks must have been after the matriarch for her autograph, thinking she was a visiting celebrity.
Seeing all that sand, though, reminds me once again that the beach is not for me. My summers as a girl were spent at Lake Calhoun, walking there with my two friends at age 8 and up, spending the day there, and then walking home at the end of the day with our swimsuits laden with half the sand of the lake and beach. And then trying to rinse the sand from my swimsuit because I'd have to put it on in the morning for the next day's fun. It never rinses out, as I'm sure you all know. And in my day, and in my family particularly, a second swimsuit was unheard of. And if it got a little skimpy towards the end of the season, wear it anyway!
Do love this time of your lives.
Lovely pictures. I am envious of beach-side getaways. I didn't get mine this year, though I tried to schedule one three times. Barrett is so cute. What a nice picture of Sue and the sleeping babe.
Great pictures! I especially like the "6mo" one. Zack loved to crumble paper and magazines so the only ones we had on low tables were the ones we were done reading. There's a you tube video of a baby belly laughing as his dad rips paper---it's hilarious and if I find the link again I'll send it to you.
Good to hear the daycare is working out for all of you. I'm forever grateful to my mother-in-law who was my daycare provider. It's hard to leave them when they are so little.
Happy school year.
Kellie,
Thanks so much for the pictures. Barrett is absolutely precious and I agree with Ms. Ginnie, he does look like Stephen at that age. Those flip-flops are just too cute. Looks like everyone had a nice time in Myrtle Beach.
Grandma,
Like the new haircut!!!!!! And you still look good in a bathing suit no matter what you say - I am so jealous!!!!!!
Love the first picture of his little piggies! That is too cute. I love, love, love the beach. I heard y'all were considering a FL beach trip for next year. That would be fun. Somewhere in Destin or Seaside? We'll meet y'all.
