You Viking fans do anything special before or during the game?

I'll probably pick up a pizza, some chicken tenders, or maybe even some Phil's Grille burgers if I have time to run to Mandeville. I'm not wild about Monday night Saints games. I prefer my Sunday noon routine.

GEAUX Saints

Bunk is striking out tomorrow for Louisiana where he hopes to spend the next year making his fortune on an oil rig like cousin Lars did last year. Everyone came over tonight (our family, Nonnie, Grandpa and Wade) to eat pizza and Special K bars and to send him off in style. We decided to take our Christmas card picture tonight just in case Bunk doesn't come home again before Christmas. It was determined that we would wear red or white for the picture this year. We took a few pictures when Kellie announced that she forgot she had brought something special for Barrett to wear in the picture. I was picturing a stocking cap just his size. She came out with him in what appeared to be a white shirt and then turned him to face us. It was a very exciting and wonderful surprise!

CrabAppleLane ginger - September 21, 2008 These came up in my garden this year for the first time ever. Not sure how. If I planted them, it was a long time ago because I don't remember it. If I didn't, I have no idea how they got here. They're not like anything I have in my yard and they're in an ideal place. Tis a mystery and I wonder what they're eventually going to look like. Looks like we have about a dozen blooms and they're huge.

Barrett finally crawled this morning! He has been doing the inchworm all over the house for over a month now and pulling up as well. I was so surprised when I saw him doing the "big boy crawl" while I was getting ready. I had to catch it on video so that Stephen would believe me when he got home. Enjoy!

We just returned from a week long stay at Walt Disney World. It was fun but exhausting! The boys really could appreciate all the characters because they watch Mickey Mouse playhouse on Disney and they watch a lot of the movies. Luke would repeat "Hi Mickey, Hi Mickey, Hi Mickey" over and over until Mickey came over and then he would stick his finger in his mouth and look at the floor or scowl at him. It was really funny. We did a character breakfast and a dinner and that was when they would get up close and personal with the characters. The picture of Luke with Donald Duck really cracks me up. The crowds were not bad at this time of year, but the heat could be unbearable sometimes. Joey and I went to Disney 5 years ago, before we had children, with Christina and her boys and Elizabeth, Scott, and their children. I'm leaving him behind next time because he failed to see the "magic" this time-he thought it was more stressful with kids. I love Disney World, always have! It's been 15 years since I worked there on the college program. We went to Typhoon Lagoon this time and I got to visit my former work place. To all those college age cousins, look into the college program- it was one of the best summers for me!

We celebrated Luke's 2nd birthday at our house the night after we got back. Samuel and Luke love having their cousins over! This week Samuel will start preschool- barring anymore hurricane breaks that is. I'll just scream if another comes our way!

Cheese

Good morning. It's good to be at home again. I left on Saturday afternoon, bound for Katie's house across the lake, with two dogs and a bird. Denise and Lois de Gruy and Chelsea, Denise's springer spaniel, joined us. The four dogs (did I mention the resident, Max?) did great together, except for one snarly episode of Gretel purloining Chelsea's food bowl. Chelsea wisely backed off. Our electricity failed -- you know what? I can't remember if it was Saturday night or Sunday! Anyway, Kevin hooked up a generator and we were very comfortable until the electricity was restored Tuesday night. On Wednesday, Phillip de Gruy drove past my house and his mother's house and called to say I had power but she did not. I immediately went to pack my belongings and head out. The hospitality was non pareil, as always, but there's just no place like home.

Thank you for worrying about all of us. It's very gratifying. Thank goodness we all came through just fine. A little inconvenience is about all we suffered.

CrabAppleLane Backyard - September 1, 2008

So far, so good. No loss of power or communication. Some flickers only. I was very concerned about our water tank being exposed like you see here. Just before I snapped this picture, Gustav broke a pine branch above it. Hoping it will stay, fall straight down, or get blown completely away from anything. Have talked to Katie and Patsy's sister, Bobette, in the last few minutes. They're both south of I-12 in the mandatory evacuation areas and are doing fine.
